Try the new Brewmasters Reserve: Smoked Weissbock. Bamberg, the central town in the Franconia region of northern Bavaria, is home to one of the worlds most unique beer styles smoked beer or rauchbier. The barley malt is dried over beechwood fires, taking on a smoky quality that infuses the beer brewed from it. Smoked lagers are common in Franconia, but theres a further specialty as well smoked wheat beer. Only the barley malt is smoked, while the wheat is malted normally. This gives the beer a lightly smoky quality which is a perfect complement to the fruitiness imparted by the weissbier yeast. These beers have inspired us to bring you something more special still Brooklyn Smoked Weissbock. At the doppelbock strength of 8%, this beer is full-bodied and complex, retaining the light acidity of the wheat balanced against fruit. Underneath is the light beechwood smoke, making this a wonderful beer with to enjoy with food. The palate finishes dry and spritzy. Try it with any pork dish (especially barbecue), traditional Mexican dishes, robust seafood such as monkfish, and Chinese dishes featuring black bean sauce. Malt: German two row smoked barley malt, German wheat malt, Belgian aromatic malts, caramalt. Hops: German Perle ABV: 8%

This was by far the best beer I tasted at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy orange color. Aroma is light smoke, honey and sweet malts. Palate is smooth and somewhat creamy. Flavor is smoked but very well balanced, banana and candy. A very nice one!

Huge creamy beige head that lasted 10 minutes or so. Very impressive display of thick lacework. Light cloudy amber colour. Perfect appearance in my book! Wheat, caramel, fruit and light notes of smoke. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Sweet and light bitter flavour. Sweet and bacon like smoked finish.

Draught. Murky brown-auburn body with a small white head. The aroma has a lot of banana, soap, cereal, and sugary peat malt. Noticable alcohol heft and otherwise some fusel-type qualities. Smokey and fruity flavours including pears and bananas. A bit too sweet.
Enjoyed a pint at Cole’s in Buffalo on April 28, 2007.

Pours from the growler a cloudy dark orange leaving a thick tan head in its wake. The aroma is fantastic, smokey, malty, brown sugar, candied wheat, banana, cloves, and just a touch of boozey aromatics to this herbal sweet fragrance. The taste starts hot with a warming alcohal presence that makes this prime for sipping from there the beer starts playing with your palate sweet, savory, malts, leaving you yearning for more! There is a wheat, nutty, feel on the palate very minimal hop presence followed by some overipened banana as well this offering is lightly carbonated and goes down to easy for a 8% beer. Im actually very disappointed that I might not get another chance to try this gem but Ill enjoy while I can. Great job Brooklyn.

On tap at Coles- Wasnt really sure what beer to start the evening off with but this one seemed very inviting. It had a good full wheat flavor, sweet and balanced with a non overtaking smokiness. It was really subtle and went extremely well with my entree. A hop presence was really sensed in the finish but I remember it being a nice dry finish.
