Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Pours a refreshing gold with thin white head. Aroma hard to place, but definitely bread/biscuit, wheat, grass, with ever so slight hops. Flavor is similar, refreshing, but nothing very memorable. Mouthfeel is a bit too slick for my taste out of a gold/blonde.

Bottle. Golden with a small head. Slightly fruity and a bit thin. Lacks body and disappointed me a bit. Not up to their usual high standard.

Can - unable to pour out of can but still pretty tasty and certainly refreshing, with light citrusy notes, easy drinking and pretty good overall

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold color with a quick white cap of foam. Aroma is bready, similar to a mass-produced light beer only better. Light-medium body. The flavor is mostly malt with almost no hop presence. Finish is clean with just a touch malt sweetness. It’s nothing amazing, but good for what it is. Nice on a hot day, I’d probably get it again but not too often.

12 oz bottle. Can't lie, was expecting quite a bit based off the box. The box is bright and exciting which made me think it was going to be full of flavor. Sadly disappointed this summer ale with a promise for flavor ended up being a bit disappointing. The flower aroma smells like a pot of soil. Not a bad beer, but not as good as I expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From tap. Clear yellow with a thin white cap. Slight citrus nose, light bodied with light hops and a touch f sweetness. True to name a good hot weather sipper, just not a ton of character happening.

SolarSam (29) - Interlaken, New York, USA - JUN 16, 2017
I prefer my beers with a significant 'nose'. This one has none. I also like a serious tongue feel and interplay of tastes. This reminds me of PBR but is likely a lot more expensive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
