3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear dark red color. The head is only a finger high, and cream colored. It’s texture and retention isn’t the best, nor is much lacing left behind.
S: At first, there seems to be a suggestion of light spiciness. This quickly gives way to strong caramel notes, backed by the subtlest smokiness. There is enough here to make me enjoy the aroma, but not enough to blow me away.
T: It opens up with a very light spiciness - it’s more of a suggestion than an actual note, to be fair. The caramel here is handled very deftly, gradually building in intensity without going overboard. In fact, a lot of the notes here seem to be subtle rather than bludgeoning - still, they’re defined enough to be prevalent to my scorched Earth of a plate.
M: I really like how clean and crisp this is. Despite the sweet flavor, it’s well attenuated and dryish finishing. Despite that, it’s quite soft and creamy. The carbonation is rather soft, and fits well with its feel.
O: This one is pretty damn tasty. I’d even suggest it exceeded my expectations. This is one I’d certainly drink again, if not buy by the 6-pack.
Bottle. Clear amber with foamy large beige head, spicy caramelized malt aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish caramel malt taste with toffee, spices, thin body, medium caramel finish. Spicy and sweet. TheKernOwl (214) - West Sussex, ENGLAND - JUN 8, 2016
Familiar toffee from Maris malts; perhaps raisins a slightly toasty, slightly herby quality. Smooth, clean body – surprised this has no wheat in it. Mild bitterness; feels a little hollow for a winter beer; slightly sweet end (like Nutella) - and just a hint of speculoos mild ginger biscuit. Altogether bready. Very bready. Bread upon which Maris Otter malts have been spread. Bread with a little Nutella at the end. Thinly sliced bread, though. Marstonlad (891) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 4, 2016
On tap @ Linko, Helsinki. Pours fairly clear copper with a medium-sized, dense head with good retention. The aroma features toasty, nutty maltiness with a touch of dark fruitiness. Taste is medium sweet, containing mostly malty notes but with some fruitiness also appearing; bread, nuts, raisin. The palate is medium-bodied and very smooth. Mild hoppiness. Quite decent sweetish winter ale. Hermod (7936) - Vantaa, FINLAND - FEB 26, 2016

12 oz bottle dated BB April 2012 served in a snifter in April 2012 (from notes).
Appearance: Pours a clear, reddish-mahogany with a modest and short-lived off-white head. Light lacing.
Smell: Subtle aroma of caramel malt and brown sugar with vague grain backdrop. Stronger and more appealing with some warming.
Taste: A nice, if rather simple, malty flavor. Hints of caramel, brown sugar, and multi-grain bread. A subtle hop contribution that’s lightly spicy and woody with a mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Smooth. Well-chosen medium carbonation. Slightly dry finish.
O: A well-crafted brew that seems reasonable to label "Winter Ale", but that veers from typical Scottish Ale in the direction of a brown ale. Fine session beer, if the 6% ABV is kept in mind. jpkeskinen (515) - FINLAND - JAN 22, 2016
Draught. Nice, soft taste with sweet, fruity flavours. The colour is reddish brown. Quite alright! Andy_ (1110) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 10, 2016

Clear copper to mahogany beer with blonde head dissolving soon leaving a ring. Aroma has caramel and vanilla. Flavor ads some sweet berry jam. Medium and slick palate with quite strong carbonation. Finish has mild bitterness. Aftertaste has spices, vanilla and caramel. Finally a Scottish Ale tick, and all RB style ticks. What an unsurprising beer, what an unneeded beer style.
Tap at Pub Graali, Oulu. Colour is light brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Spices, chocolate, some candies and roasted malts. Sarpa (1572) - FINLAND - DEC 14, 2015
