A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Tesco. A lovely smelling beer. Overflowing with dark chocolate malt and some coffee notes. Reasonable looks, dark chestnut brown with just a slight head. The flavour is just not as good as the nose. More of the same dark cocoa with plenty of malt and some biscuity character but something just doesnt sit right for me. Nice bitter finish saves the day a little. Not bad overall if a slightly sickly. hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2006
Dark brown with a small head. Lovely fruit and malt aroma and a chocolate taste with good bitterness. Liked this a lot. Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - NOV 27, 2006
Pretty non existant aroma. Slight stodgy, earthy smell. Dark almost black in colour, has a deep red menacing glow. Off white head. Slight burnt charcoal taste. Watery texture. Fin (10699) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 27, 2006
Bottle, picked up at Tesco Cowley. Dark ruby coloured beer with a slim off white head. Nice aroma of fruit and some bitter chocolate. Taste was malty, fruity and the chocolate came through again, lovely warming beer. JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2006
Bottle. Dark ruby coloured with a slim tan head. Vinous, roast malt, fruity and chocolate aroma. Roasted malts and chocolate with some hops in the background. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Nice winter beer.

Bottle (from Tescos). Ruby coloured. Fruity nose with light roasty malt and hints of earthy hops. Nice combination of light freshness in the mouth and heavier malt flavours. Quite dry but not overly so with pleasantly laid back hops in the finish competing with roasty chocolate for attention. Very interesting but becomes slightly flat in the mouth after a while but the lack of drinkability isnt too much of a problem as this is more of a sipper. harrisoni (18970) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2006
500ml bottle from Tesco. Very deep ruby with lasting tan head. A very lovely intense vinous fruit and chocolate aroma. Bit of cream too. Starts very carbonated, but then calms down into a smooth fruity choccy porter. Fruits are blackberry based and then this tremendous hit of chocolate. Choc lasts into the finish with a bit of tingly hop on the tongue. Impressive and very tasty with well defined and intense flavours. A beer for a winter night.
