(Bottle BBE 02/2008; Thanks Paavo!) Roasted malty, chocolate and slightly licorice aroma. Dark brown red colour and average size, brownish, very slightly lasting head with fair/good lacing. Chocolate, roasted malty, slightly bitter and licorice flavour. Softly carbonated, dry and medium-bodied palate. Smooth and well balanced ale! 05/04/07 beervis (243) - Taylor’s Country, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2007
Looks great - deep, deep red with thick cream head, Aroma roast malt, dried fruit. Definitely porterish but with a distinctly aged character, smooth and slightly smoky. Like dark toffee with fruit and nuts in it. Good stuff. HogcliffeLenny (162) - Christchurch, Dorset, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2007
Bottle 500ml. Pours a good ruby colour with a medium tan head. Quite a fruity aroma, with hints of coffee coming through. The flavours were interesting; quite a rummy background with dark roast coffee taste coming through. A pleasant hoppy finish to it with a lingering bitterness. Not a session ale. muffel (150) - Lower Saxony, GERMANY - MAR 11, 2010
