Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Brewed to the exacting standards of Robert Younger, great grandfather of the founder of Broughton brewery. This rich stout is bursting with the flavours of roasted barley and black malt. The excellent hop bitterness is offset by the silky mouth feel of oats.
Major ingredients are:-
Optic Pale Ale Malt, Black Malt, Roasted Barley, Pinhead Oats. Hops used are English grown Fuggles, First Gold and Challenger.

KyotoLefty (10692) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 20, 2010
500 ml bottle in Edinburgh. Pitch black with a fine, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, cereals, chocolate, and coffee. Rich roasted flavor, biscuity and with nice cereal grain tastes. Medium to heavier body. Dry and rich, with a roasted, malty, bready finish. Excellent.

03/03 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! It poured dark brown, almost black body with small brown head. Fine coffee, wood, caramel and peat (even smoked meat) scents perspire from the glass. Similar very fine flavor, except mentioned things showed up some chocolate as well. Balanced between sour and sweet, in yet thinner body, it had sourish coffee and smoked finish. This nice brew made me like the brewery for the beer itself, after I was first attracted with nice labels, well, what can I do when I like Oatmeal Stouts!

Bottle from beershop.hr, shared with heavy
Poured an extremely dark brown body with a small off white head. The nose is dominated by coffeeish maltiness that’s quite nice, slightly smokey and meaty. More of the same and I’m not complaining, light tasty roasty maltiness with notes of smoked meat, slightly yoghurty, slightly acidic near the end. Drinkable and likable ’nuff.

500 ml bottle. I thought this tasted a bit ’old’ and to my surprise the neck reveals best by December 2004! So five years beyond then I drink this tasty beer. A pure black pour with a thick white head and lacing down the glass. The aroma is mostly chocolates, a sour roasted aroma as well. The flavor is easygoing; a mix between a sour roasted malt. chocolate, light fruity hops. Probably a bit different than a fresh one, but still nice. The mouthfeel was a bit thin. Overall, nice.

johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2009
Powerful deep dark nose. Pours dark brown with a disappearing head. Flavour is gentle at first but develops well with some coffee, chocolate and asparagus (weirdly). Mouthfeel a little watery but pleasant enough. A nice little stout.

lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 22, 2009
Black with ruby hints, thin white tan head. Aroma is roasted coffee, malt, dark fruits. Taste is oats, roasted barley, burnt coffee beans.
