341mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp, pours copper amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, dried dark fruits (plum, raisins, dates), and a slight roasted character. Flavour of plum, caramel malts, some floral notes, citrus hops and a slight alcohol finish. Not terribly complex or dense in the palate, but a very enjoyable barley wine nonetheless.

341ml bottle at Brouhaha. pours dark amber with a very little white head that quickly dissipates. aroma is loaded with sweet malts, and not much of anything else. taste is toffee, dark fruits and alcohol. not getting much hops at all like i expected. way too sweet, and not balanced very well. mouthfeel is good, full bodied with good carbonation. overall i’m not too crazy about this beer at all.

Bottle. Dark amber with minimal skiff. Boozy malt scent with orange zest. Strong malt with a nice airy hop note riding across. Hops last long after the alcohol finish. Very drinkable for ABV.

Thanks cfrancis for the bottle. Pours out a crystal clear deep amber with a small tan head and slippery lacing. Excellent colour. Scents of sweet caramel, sweet citrus, peaches, mild apple, sugar. Smells rich and is nicer when warmed up a bit. Mmmm.. tasty caramel and lots of fruit. Very good sweetness, mild pine, thick and syrupy, resin, nice bitterness. Pretty straight forward yet tasty. It also has been a while since I’ve had a good barley wine. No alcohol distraction. Full bodied and syrupy, hidden bitterness and a really nice finish.

341ml bottle from Monde des bières.
Appearance : Clear amber with a tiny head. Limited lacing.
Aroma : Rich sweet fruits, quite hoppy. Slightly resinous and piny. Very rich and intense. Slightly smoky. Sugary with notes of prunes.
Taste : Very sweet and resinous, nice fruits, light raisins. Finish is light raisins with hops. Notes of smoke, caramel, sugar. Soft carbonation. No traces of alcohol.
Overall : Very nice beer. Great balance between sweetness and bitterness. Great sipper, nice complexity. I liker the light smoky notes. Great beer ! I was impressed.

341 ml bottle, 4,29$ at Peluso; 5$ for half a bottle at Chambly fest (where I got a little too drunk to remember I hadn’t like it, so I bought it again). Pretty extreme barley wine, thick, almost sirupy. Boozy almost headacheful aroma. A lot of alchool (too much, I think) causing the nevertheless powerful 450 hp citrusy hoppiness to be too shattered. Some fruity and (displeasing) acrid notes. Very american-like BW, which I usually don’t like much... Well done in the style.

Bottle, 12% on the label. Crystal clear copper colored pour with lots of frothy white head, good lacing. Aroma of sweet barley candy, toffee and a hint of minty, fruitiness. Taste is sweet, strong alcohol taste, candied fruits and toffee. Palate is a bit slick but has some good carbonation considering the age and ABV. Good stuff.
