Initially only available on draft. Draft version brewed in Irvine, bottled version brewed in San Jose.

Our Tripel pours a hazy deep gold with a creamy head. Upfront aromas of fresh plums, orange, white flowers and a hint of hay evolve into aromas of caramel malt and cola as the glass warms. A very balanced flavor profile and a creamy mouthfeel lead into a light malt sweetness with a final transition into a hint of warming alcohol and soft drying bitterness.

Hazy deep copper coloured body with an orange glow and a thin, one centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pale malt, yeast, coriander seed, curacao, hay, grass and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied; Strong yeast flavour at first then showing some wheat, alcohol, earth, caramel and a hint of the coriander seed and a tiny amount of citrus. Aftertaste is a bit complex with the yeast and alcohol coming through mostly and a hint of sweetness and a twinge of spices near the end. Overall, excited to try this, but it didn’t deliver in the way I’d expect - a fairly one dimensional tripel with some decent flavours but nothing overwhelming. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Olive Tree Market Place in San Diego, California on 01-May-2012 for US$6.49 sampled at home in Washington on 29-November-2012.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy orange/gold with a foamy/creamy near-white head. Aroma is floral and fruity. Near full bodied. There’s light banana ester and the typical Belgian yeast/spice. Lightly sweet with some off-setting bitterness. There’s no doubt this is a tripel. Goes towards medium dark pitted fruit in the finish.

Bottle from Taylor’s Market, Sacramento. Pours cloudy golden with a thin off-white head and a floral fruity aroma. There is a carbonated caramel malt flavor that starts sweet, then turns grassy and bitter.

A: The beer pours a clear golden color with a hint of orange and a big white head. S: As usual for tripels, there is lots of sweet malt with plenty of fruit. Big time banana and pear with just a hint of sweet apples. There are lots of spice notes, too: clove, coriander, and mild pepper. T: The flavor is very similar with an emphasis on sweet malt/bread and toffee. There is, however, noticeable booze which is the main problem with this beer. Nice spices of coriander and clove along with the same banana and pear fruit notes. M: Medium to full in body with a medium carbonation. O: Overall a pretty nice beer. The booze is really the only knock on it, but pretty solid.

Tap. Pours lightly hazy dark gold with an average, fizzy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (biscuit, meal, cereal), light hops (spicy), and average esters (apple, pear) with notes of alcohol and sugar. Flavor is moderate malt, mild hop bitterness with spicy alcohol and earthy notes. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation with a dry finish.

On tap. Pours with a hazed golden orange body and a white head that fades. Aromas are strong of orange peel, orange blossom honey, rye, and spicy clove. Flavors are quite dry, grainy, a bit of booze. Some candi sugar. Lively and dry. A tasty triple.
