COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first batch of our blackberry saison is out for distribution - dog ate my homework, 7% alc/vol with approximately 1lb of fruit per liter. Why Blackberries? Blackberries have a wonderful sweetness that is not TOO sweet or full. They are rich in color and aroma and have a unique drying charcter that is felt across the whole pallet. I am not a fan of sweet beers, so it was important to me that this beer have lots of deep blackberry fruit and a deep respect for the saison’s dry palate.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2017 500mL capped bottle. Bought it in discount at State Line, so not fresh. So, it's on me for being unprepared for the gusher once I popped the cap. Head fades rather quickly. That purple pink hue in a brown beer from the berries. It's one of those berry and malt sweet beer. I've had actual Belgian versions that were similar. There is a lot going on, tart sourness from berries as well. Each sip makes me oscillate between hate to like. At times the overly sweet character bothers me. But at other times I like the strong tart berries that are accentuated by strong Belgian malt base. So, depending on the sip it's between shit and ok.

Clear deep rosey purpleish amber under a large rocky light pink head. Big bright woody blackberry juicy aroma with a thick funky saison ester background. Brisk bone dry flavor that’s bright with blackberry and light white oak, and drying funky saison esters to round out a very quick flavor profile. Lovely carbonation with dry dusty saison tones with light fruity kisses and a hella-dry finish.

Bottle - medium purple with a foamy pink head - full, earthy blackberry nose, light funk, moderate tartness, mild sweetness - full carbonation in the mouth - dry, tart, moderately acidic, lightly funky - moderate spiciness arrives late - currant, berry, white grape - lingering spice and mildly sweet blackberry - interesting and refreshing.

Draft at Old Devil Moon. Reddish purple cloudy color with a lasting pink head. Nice blackberry aroma, some Belgian notes. Medium sweet flavor, nice fruit notes, some Belgian yeast. Medium bodied, well carbonated. Good for a fruit beer.
