To honor the water source from which all Brown’s Ales & Lagers are made , the Tomhannock Resevoir. Brewed in the traditional style that originated in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, our Pils is brewed using Saaz Hops (for bittering and later dry hopped during lagering for aroma). Pilsner Malts, and a yeast strain that is used to ferment some of the finest Pilsners in the world combined with the Pilsen -- like the soft water of Troy’s Tomhannock Reservoir. A portion of each pint goes to the Rennselaer Land Trust, to strengthen their watershed education programs.
Malts: Pilsen, White Wheat and Carapils
Hops: Saaz

From mcox90 via trade. The pour was thin and pale gold with very little head. The aroma was spice and thin pine hops. The flavor was spicy with some cardboard and maybe a touch of sweetness. Thin body.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear light yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma is bread dough, mild citrus and a touch of earth. Clean, dry palate with lively carbonation. Taste is Pilsner malt with a light hop background. Simple and unassuming. Quite refreashing.

Bottle. Pours hazy and straw-colored with a medium off-white head. Aroma is citrus and pine hops, sweet pilsner malts, and dough/biscuits. Flavor is sweet, slightly bitter, with citrus present. Medium carbonation and thin body. This is good, a nice surprise.

Very yellow in appearance. It’s a good, crisp beer. Fairly hoppy, but goes down smooth with a bit of bite in it. It’s very good for a pilsner.

(Rating #2546)

Sampled at the brewpub. Light golden in color with a medium white head. Aroma has some earthy hops as well as some bready pils malt. Taste has bready pils malt, lightly grainy with a nice moderate earthy hop presence. Body is lightly creamy and is light to medium. Finishes with a light bitterness with some lingering bready malts. Very clean and crisp, can’t find any flaws in this. Excellent pils.

Tap at The Golden Rail Ale House: Light golden in color with a thin white head. The aroma has some dough/biscuit notes and some grassy hop hints. Nice and creamy feeling on the palate. The flavor has a nice crackery malt base. It remains dry throughout with some grassy flavors and a bitter/dry finish. A decent Pilsner.

on tap at the Empire State Brew Fest in Syracuse. GREAT pilsener. One of the best I have ever had. Definitely would buy again if I wanted an easy drinking lighter tasting beer.

Pint pour @ brewpub. Looks beautiful with a dull golden color and a rush of carbonation bubbles in the middle. The bubbles seem to never let up. The pilsner is very clean with no off flavors. Mainly a clean white bread-like sweetness. Not citric or fruity at all but still very nice. A light hoppiness detected in the flavor. Very easy drinking and thirst quenching. Nicely made, doesn’t go above and beyond but does not falter either.

Free sample courtesy of Gary Brown at the Troy Brewpub location. A very floral hoppy pilsner, zesty and packs a bitter bite. Not my personal favorite offering from these guys, mainly due to a lack of carbonation... but i can see how this could be popular. Was neat to see how they make it tho!
