COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In brewing, BBL is the notation for “barrel,” a unit of measurement equal to 31 gallons. This is not to be confused with an oak barrel, which typically holds nearly two BBLs of beer. Still with us? Great. Blue BBLs, then, is a special blend of our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with our bourbon barrel-aged sour stout, plus an addition of juicy blueberries, which imparts vinous tones. The acidity from the sour stout seamlessly balances the sweet malt character of the imperial stout, and the tannins from the berries amplify the fruity character, altogether exhibiting notes of red wine, blueberry skins, rich toffee, roast and singed oak.
30% Sour Stout and 70% Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with blueberries added

Bottle from unknown via Mykel. Pours a dark brown/black, little bit of head. Aroma slightly fruity, dry chocolate. Body dry but juicy, sweet. Wow! A little too much fruit for my taste, but not bad.

A- pours a syrupy opaque dark brown with a quick, loose finger of cabernet khaki head. No lacing. Ruddy edges. S- like a cobbler running rampant with blue berries and chocolate. Lots of sweet smelling baked goods. A light burn from the bourbon and oak. Some chocolate banana nut bread as well. Familiar roasted malts, caramel, rhubarb, and lots of dried fruits - raisins. Apple brandy cider comes through as it warms, as well as a little dirt and twigs. M- full syrupy body with some tackiness. Decent carb. T- so sweet and sugary. Blueberry torani overwhelms throughout with some bitter alcohol burn. Chocolate is a little plastic - a-la a bad edible advent calendar. Lots of dried fruits. Caramel with some bitter and dirty essence in the middle and end with lemon and grass. A faint tobacco and licorice. Good rhubarb and mineral finish. Taste is not as complex as the aroma.

Bottle @ Every Bruery Beer Tasting. Very dark brown pour, almost black in color with a thin tan head. Super roasty and a strong balsamic note. Some chocolate syrup and a whole lot of ash. I guess maybe some blueberry skins... The flavor is kind of kind of harsh and roasty. A bunch of ash and charred oak. Balsamic vinegar, chocolate, and a touch of dark fruit. Not what I was hoping for and not very good. Really chalky finish.

750ml bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Blueberries, tart, some bourbon, wood, vanilla, dark fruitiness, and chocolate. Some alcohol in the finish, but overall well hidden.

750ml bottle. I could not figue out what this was supposed to be. Very balsamicy, some blueberry flavor, outlandish amounts of booze. And now i log on to post my notes and it is a 15% sour? Badly executed bad idea.

P: A very dark beer with a very thin khaki head. S: Straight off the bat you get that typical, bourbon, alcohol, and molasses but there is a bit of sourness to this one, some malt, toffee and faint artificial blueberries. T: Chocolate, molasses, sweet blueberries, with a bit of alcohol in the finish. M: Thick and syrupy. O: Enjoyable but not the biggest fan of the Bruery anyway.
