COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sans Pagaie is our take on the Belgian-style kriek, which is a traditional, sour blonde ale aged in barrels with cherries. The word "kriek" actually translates to "cherry" in the Flemish language. Sans Pagaie, our clever monicker for this beer, translates from French to "without a paddle" (see what we did there? Kriek/"without a paddle"..... hello, anyone out there?). The base beer has a subtle funk, which melds gently with the fruit giving this beer flavors reminiscent of coconut, vanilla yogurt and of, course, fresh cherries. A complex beer, perfect for a warm California day in the park with a slice of homemade cheesecake.
2015 vintage uses Balaton and Montmorency sour cherries.

Capped 750 shared by Marcus. Pours translucent light cherry with a slight off-white head. Aroma of medium sour cherry. Med body. Flavor is moderately sour, and the cherry is very reminiscent of what comes in pie filling cans. Cherry comes across as rather fresh, despite the sour. Nice drink.

Dogbrick (13541) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 8, 2017
Sample from 2015 bottle at the DBLDP on 09/03/2017. The beer is a clear pinkish-red color with a thin pinkish-white head that burns away steadily to a wispy film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of tart cherry, yeast and malt. Medium body with flavors of sour cherry, oak, yeast and doughy malt. The finish is moderately tart with a cherry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

it had been a while since I had an older one, but not seeing enough of an obvious difference to be a separate entry. Still quite sour and acidic, perhaps a touch maltier than it used to be. Fruity, but the fruit takes a back seat to the bracing sour aspect.

2017-06-28. Lightly hazy dark pink body, modest pink head fades. 3++ Aroma is pleasantly fruity, notes of cherry, lightly funky yeast. 7++ Flavour is pretty acidic and sour, cherry, hints at berry. 7++ Average bodied palate, effervescent carbonation. Really nice but quite acidic. 7-8/4/8/3/16-17 Bottle shared by duffman.

DuffMan (10602) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 3, 2017
Bottle, shared with jercraig and mabel on their visit West. Light cotton-candy pink with a foamy white head. Sour cherry and acetic sourness, woody and spicy notes. Assertively sour, and the cherry character is very nice.

marcus (10565) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 16, 2017
Bottle from Cap Tap. Pours red with a transient pinkish head and a yeasty cherry aroma. There is a fairly sour cherry flavor with a funky yeast finish.
