COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our tonnellerie series is the perfect showcase of what we mean when we say that we make "wildly traditional bière". Here we have taken our classic Saison Rue recipe, rich with rye malt, and allowed it to ferment spontaneously within extra large oak barrels that previously contained similarly wild beers. After enough time and plenty of wishful thinking, this brand new, earthy, complex, farmhouse ale developed into what was bottled up to enjoy. We find the rustic charm of fermenting a beer in this traditional method is mimicked in the flavor.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale and rye malts, bready, grapefruit citrus, grapes, a light spicy kick, funky, mildly tart, some earthy notes, solid enough.

Bottle. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that was lasting with excellent lacing. Medium to heavy yeast, earthy and citrus aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sour & sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sour & sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex beer.

Aroma of lemon, banana, barnyard funk. Murky golden orange with white head. Bottle overflowed when open. High carbonation. Taste is orange, lemon, banana, citrus, tart grass. Another solid from Bruery.

750ml bottle, from Dutch’s. Shared with jstax and phaleslu. Smooth, kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Medium to bigger body. Light dry finish. Nice grapefruit citrus funk. Kind of mild slick, lighter carbonation. Moderate-plus sweet taste, light bitter. Just a touch of tart, but not really sour. Funky but not sour. Hazy golden color. Thin white head. Leaves splotches of lace. Solid, funky saison. Worth $15 though? I’m not so sure. Will probably evolve with a touch of age, though.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, apple, brett, light lemon peel, and a hint of oak. It pours a hazy golden-orange with a large white head that eventually settles to a thick film outlined by a thicker ring, There is a good amount of thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus with orange, tangerine, and light lemon. The finish has light-moderate brett, light florals, and oak. It’s light bodied with moderate carbonation.

man, liked this version much better than that buttery cereal box of an original release of tonnell .. . can’t touch this .. . yellow haze .. solid head, great lacing .. . can’t touch this .. . mouth is spritzed, brett, hay, husk, and gold soil .. . pretty good brew, would be good candidate for a fruiting treatment .. . . Yo, sound the bell- school is in, sucker.

You can’t touch this

750ml. Caution she’s a gusher. This is a Brett bomb, if that is a thing. Tons of wet blanket. Slight citrus and zest.

Bottle. Cloudy yellowish gold with a huge white head. Bottle pretty much exploded upon opening so probably only drank about a quarter of the bottle. Nice funk, cheese and citrus combo. Light mouthfeel. Very good but be careful opening.

Taster on tap at the bruery. Overall numerical rating only. A bit of cola spice. In a bad way. Average.

jbruner (5006) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - DEC 23, 2015
Pours a hazy golden yellow on tap with fluffy white head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of oaky tannins, funky yeast, stone fruit, and musty grapes. Taste is earthy and oaky, nice funky saison. Booze is well hidden, good carbonation, solid beer.
