This beer was recommended by the owner/one of the owners of Crown Brewing in Crown Point, IN (where I had lunch and a flight :-). I purchased this out of the refrigerated case at Wise Guy Liquors in CP, IN. It was reasonably priced at around $7 or $8. 750 ml traditional Belgian bottle with painted label and metal crown closure. Not a lot of ’pop’ when opening. Poured with a 1.5 to 2 inch head into a 0.4 ltr goblet. A little darker than I think necessary. Lovely Belgian Tripel aroma of spices and yeast. The aroma of this one foreshadows the taste. A nice balance of malty goodness with spice and yeast (if you like the flavor of Belgian Abbey yeast you will most likely appreciate this ale). Could use a bit more carbonation; not so much as a TJ’s anniversary, but t’was enough, t’was enough. Adequate carbonation to tingle the tongue. Not too heavy. You won’t realize you are drinking such a high gravity beer (a hallmark of the style). I really enjoyed this one. Maybe someday it will come to my home town on tap. As a native Hoosier I would be able to brag there is great beer made in Indiana (we consider Hammond part of Chicago - same time zone, etc.)

On draft at HopCat a Indianapolis. Thanks work! Oh boy. The pour is a darker foggy golden orange with a thick ring of white head and some good lacing as it falls. The aroma is everything I dislike about tripels. There is a heavy banana and clove with a spiciness and a light pear-like fruitiness. It’s all banana and clove though. The flavor is much of the same. The fruitiness fades in lieu of a sweet clove and a strong banana. Not my thing at all. This is rough. The mouth feel is thick and softly carbonated with a lingeringly banana dominated aftertaste. No thanks. zvikar (6068) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - NOV 5, 2016

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Excellent Little Brother for scoring the bottle while in Indiana! Cloudy orange. Fruity aroma with some peach. Also ripe red grapefruit. Fruity, sweet and sugary taste but a little tarty too. Medium body, thin orange-juice finish and quite fizzy - nice. DSG (14685) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - MAR 22, 2016
Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of fruity esters, a bit of honey, an oxidized note, yeast. Sweet flavor with fruity esters, a bit of honey, a bit of yeast, a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied. JK (6095) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - AUG 23, 2015
Great Taste of the Midwest, 2015. Orange color. Moderate head, not sweet like so many tripels. Alcohol is a prominent flavor here, and it reminds me of Westmalle in that regard. Some light spice; grains of paradise maybe? A little sweet malt in the finish.
