Bottle: (Am I the first bottle rater?) It poured a hazy light golden amber with a short-lived, modest creamy head. No lace. The aroma has warm spices, citrus and pome fruits, warm bread, alcohol, and a touch of butterscotch. Nicely rounded, creamy mouthfeel heated with white peppers. Picked up at Keg Liquors in Clarksville, IN this is the second time that I have tried this. On a fresh palate it was completely different than after thirty other samples. I’d love to try it one more time if I can find it on tap; perhaps my bottle just wasn’t that great.
Aroma / Appearance - A foamy huge two finger head subsided down into a golden fluid body. Honey, graham crackers, cotton candy, and a bit of ham make it different than most tripels.
Flavor / Palate - Chewy honey and cough syrup drop this to average at best. A warm vinous finish improves the tasting. Bready and dense at times it alternates between solid and bland. Sample at Neil’s HSC initation. This beer is a lightly hazy golden-orange color with a medium thin ivory white head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Lots of fruity esters in the nose, mostly lemon and banana. Notes of malt as well. Medium body with flavors of sweet fruit and malt along with some yeast. Lemony finish with a fruity aftertaste. Pours a hazy golden orange underneath a big creamy white head that stays on as a healthy cap for the entirety of the session. No lacing to be found though the body clears up completely as it warms.
The aroma is very sweet with lots of sweet Belgian yeasts and sugar coated light fruits, definitely some apples and pears in there. Some spiciness and a bit of dry earthy character as well.
The taste is all over the place and has a big sweet fruit backbone that has not only apples and pears but some bananas as well. There is also a more noticeable spiciness, especially in the finish. The alcohol is also more present than I would like and the finish is an odd mix of super sweet sugars and dry spiciness.
The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and almost syrupy over time with the sugars really coming through on the palate.
There is probably a little bit too much non-integrated stuff going on in this one to really impress me - spicy yeast, lemony hops, lots of sugar, light fruits. I think the ingredients are there, and it’s definitely a good beer and I’d go out of my way to try something else from this brewery.

On tap at Brugge Brasserie last weekend. Served in a goblet.
Poured a nice golden color with a good white head and plenty of lacing on the way down. The nose carried nice notes of pear and green apple in addition to light pepper and a bit of alcohol. Fruit throughout. The flavor carried too much booze and not enough of the yeast character, though there were still nice notes of ripe pear. Great Taste of the Midwest, 2015. Orange color. Moderate head, not sweet like so many tripels. Alcohol is a prominent flavor here, and it reminds me of Westmalle in that regard. bomber into large snifter. Large white head after the pour but then settes, golden yellow and clear. Aroma is lemons, yeast, grass. 6oz on tap at Twenty Tap. Clear kind of darker orange color. Thin ring of off-white head. Some dots and bits of lace. Bigger body, kind of slick, definitely thicker. Lighter carbonation. Caramel, belgian candy sugar, some dried fruit. Moderate sweet taste, lightly spicy light bitterness, light alcohol warmth. Decent amber-tripel. Fun to try.
