Bottle, served with the lamb course at Frederik V, Reykjavik. Medium amber brown, tan head that recedes to a clingy ring. Malty, bready aroma and flavour, dark caramel. Medium sweetness without much bitterness. Decent enough. cubs (10740) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 25, 2012
Tap @ Micro Bar. A bit hazy, dark reddish brown appearance with a tan head and good lacing. Toasty, nutty, caramel malty, a bit roasty, a little earthy aroma. Toasty, hazelnut, caramel, a little burnt cracker flavor. Pretty solid. MartinT (10155) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 17, 2007
My Bottom Line:JorisPPattyn (10112) - BELGIUM - SEP 7, 2009
This accessible Dunkel’s bready pils malts form a chewy, drinkable body where roasted nuts and fruity caramel chit-chat with the herbal Saaz hoppiness until the very end of the sip. No world-stirring topics are undertaken, but a pleasantly honest moment is spent, and that’s all it takes to proclaim "goodness", really.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the reddish copper.
-The nose of this one is not as well developed as their Pilsener’s.
-This very much tastes like their Pilsener with a simple dark malt addition for colour and a slightly different flavor character; not that that’s a bad thing.
Good dense and finebubbled, dirty-cream head over cola-coloured beer. Sweet dark malts, dark bread, maybe some molasses and manure. Sweet, dark malts, more dark bread. Bit soft drink finish, but aftertaste is bitterish, even hoppy. Rather spritzy MF, if not fizzy; light bodied. Very drinkeable, rather agreable dark lager. Beats anything I had so far from Iceland by lightyears. gunnar (9920) - Sandnes, NORWAY - APR 22, 2015
On tap at Kaldi, Reykjavik. Pours clear dark ruby with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee. Taste is well balanced, but on the sweet side as expected, but a nice weak dry finish saves this one, decent dunkel.

Some light coffee and nut. Dark mahogany pour with ok head. Tangy but crisp finish like dried cod jerky. Bottle from Vinbudin. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 19, 2013
Bottle. Clear chestnut brown. Stale dark crackers and bread aroma with a small bit dry dog food. No hop aroma. Light body. Toaster bread crumb malt. Wet dog hair and mineral water. Metal flakes and red apple skins. Low sweetness, low bitterness, fizzy carbonation. nimbleprop (8922) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 11, 2016
On tap at Olstofa in Akureyri. Pours a muddy amber brown with lots of creamy, lacing, off white head. Nose has mild grist, some nuts, some brown sugar, some caramel. Flavor is sweet with toffee and caramel, some mild bread, yeast, a little date. Finishes sweet. Not a bad Tmavy. Hansen (8618) - Assentoft, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2011
Dark brown and clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet and light roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and finish light bitter. Creamy texture. ogivlado (8316) - Zagreb, CROATIA - OCT 23, 2007
Bottled(330ml). -Pours a clear amber (nearly cola coloured) colour with medium sized white head and odd herbal coffee nose. Mild roasted malt and caramel aroma with slight chicory and mild hoppy notes. Bitter finish and overal quite thin.
