Rich sweet malts with floral textures. Fruit cake prunes. A decent quadruple but lacking the silky textures needed to bring it to the next level. Gets you a lovely sort of drunk though. With thay deep rich molases. Typical example of an exceptional style. Poncjusz (371) - POLAND - DEC 20, 2017

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2017 Acquired at Gerrard’s Market for $14.99, Straffe Hendrik Bruges Quadrupel Ale is a dark Belgian Ale brewed by De Halve Maan Brewery.
The air gives off notes of molasses, chocolate, and dark fruit. Malts are rich to the body and brings some weight to the drink. Belgian yeast is felt upon the mouthfeel. An alcohol content of 11% is overwhelmed by the components and has a warming tone to the finish.
Molasses is dominate and leaves a sugary feel at the back of your mouth. Toffee compliments the molasses and infuses with the chewy malt body. Chocolate is faint, but its flavor has a lasting impression on the aftertaste.
Raisins offers its flavor as the beer wanes and sweetens the finish. Prunes accompanies the raisin taste. Plums compliments the chocolate and malt body.
Cherries brings a slight tartness to the take and its taste strengthens in the finish. Clove has a lovely undertone to the mouthfeel. Anise spice blends with the sugary molasses.
Straffe Hendrik Bruges Quadrupel Ale is an extraordinary complex beer. Molasses and chocolate intertwine together with a fine layer of toffee. Raisins, plums, and prunes sweeten the beer and brings depth to the body. Clove is subtle, but anise, sugary molasses, and Belgian yeast gives us a unique take. If you find this Belgian, don’t leave it on the shelf. This beer is incredibly delicious, easy to drink, and like a fine wine.
Cheers. Prost. Drink for the love of beer.
