COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered. Keg.
Brugse Zot Dubbel is a dark brown beer, inclining towards ruby red. It is brewed with six special varieties of malt, which give the beer a rich and distrinctive aroma. One can discover the scent of honey, almonds, chocolate and brown sugar. By using the Czech Saaz hop from Zatec, the beer has a complex palate of roasted malts and a distrinctive flavour. Brugse Zot Dubbel is known to leave a warm glow in the mouth with a bitter and hoppy finish, leaning towards liquorice and coffee roast. Bottle conditioned.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, sugar, Saaz hops, yeast.

75cl bottle. Clear brown with huge head. NOSE : tart, toffee, raspberry, yeast, candy, cooked fruits. SIP : medium body, decent carbonation with creamy texture. Sweet tart flavor on the start with a background of burned caramel and malts. The burned taste becomes more and more bitter. Very complex fruit notes mingle well with black chocolate like feeling. Further on it develops some more bitter, earthy flavors and some more raspberry like sour twist. It’s like there are two separate layers of flavors that don’t mix yet they play well together. Hop are revealed in the end with floral nuances. The bitterness in the aftertaste is more like a burned coffee and apple seed and clove. OVERALL : I didn’t expect that at all. It’s by far one of the most exciting Abbey Dubbel I have ever tasted. Smooth texture and complexity from both malts and hops is quite unique. Nice one.

Dobre piwo, piana puszysta ze az sie wylewa z kielicha. Typowa dla belgijskich piw. Kolor brazowo-bursztynowy. Lekkie zmetnienie. W smaku toffi i karmel. Alkohol ukryty i nie wyczuwalny. Finisz wytrawno goryczkowy, lekko owocowy.

330ml Bottle. This pours a loose foamy tan head over a deep brown body with an average amount of lacing. Its aroma is almost non-existent with maybe the faintest hint of dark fruits and wheat. Its taste, as other have said, is very light for a dubbel, but there is a subtleness to it. a bitter start quickly moves into sweetness followed by dark fruits, caramel and maybe a hint of liquorice with a bitter finish. This beer is the darker brother of the ordinary Bruges Zot and the similarity is definitely there. On a night out I would prefer the lighter version, but on a cold night a couple of these would warm you nicely!

it’s a double alright but not one to get too excited about. Sticky and sweet but thin and lacking in full flavors. Bottle from the Mitra in Mijdrecht.

Cerveza color ámbar oscuro con espuma ligeramente cremosa y consistente (yo diría que puede llevar algo de irish moss). Sabor a malta, caramelo y frutos rojos. Puede tener un toque muy ligeramente especiado. Algo mejor que su hermana la rubia, pero dejan que desear.

Bigger brother of the blond. Packs a bigger punch, but still retains the lightness of the blond, which may be a little disappointing in the double. Still a great beer and well worth seeking out.
