330 ml bottle into chalice, best by 11/2013. Pours hazy dark reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger foamy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Decent spotty lacing clings to the glass, with a fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big apple, raisin, prune, molasses, caramel, earth, clove, herbal, and yeast spices. Very nice aromas with good balance and strength; big on the fresh apple aromas until it warms up. Taste of big apple, raisin, cherry, caramel, molasses, nuttiness, earth, toast, pepper, clove, and yeast spices. Lingering notes of apple, dark fruit, caramel, molasses, earth, toast, pepper, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; with no cloying sweetness at all. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a nice slick and lightly foamy mouthfeel as expected. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Very smooth to sip on. Overall this is a very nice dubbel. Nice flavor balance and complexity, and quite smooth. Maybe a touch too earthy, but I really have no complaints. Very well done. turbothy (1141) - Bonn, GERMANY - JUL 9, 2012
Pours chestnut with decent head. Malty aroma. I think I drank this too warm, as the body had a quite distinct alcoholic note not present in the stronger quadrupel. But a solid dubbel nonetheless. Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JUN 7, 2012
Bottle at home. Hazy dark reddish to brown pour, solid foamy off-white head. Aroma is spicy and roasty, a bit bready and also slightly metallic. Flavor is sweet roasty malts, slightly bitter spicy and hugely carbonated. A bit out of balance and sharp. Ernest (7724) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark brown.
Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted nuts/bread, cookie), lightly yeasty (basement), with notes of vanilla, currant, raisin, cola.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Pleasant aroma...nice malt and secondary fruity notes. Pretty watery, and on the sweet side, but ok in the mouth overall. Like the regular Zot, it’s decent and has potential, but is limited in depth and appeal. ken1 (2022) - DENMARK - MAY 30, 2012
Not a very rounded beer. Some bitterness and sourness. Dark brown in color with a fading white head.

In bottle in Bruge. Pours a dark brown colour with a decent light tan head. Aroma of Ovaltine, chocolate, caramel, yeast and alcohol. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Lingering Ovaltine and chocolate again. trapped (3283) - New York, TURKEY - MAY 17, 2012
Drought at Belgo Centraal, London. Amber-brown color, small foamy tan head, fruity flavor, cherry caramel taste, abrupt finish. Loved it! Gerbeer (3796) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 6, 2012
330 ml bottle via Belgiuminabox. Pours a red brown with medium head of large bubbles that dissipates quickly. Aromas of roasted malt and caramel. Slightly sour start with a bitter finish with only a hint of a Belgium in between. Shaney (2423) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - MAY 3, 2012
Amber colored beer with a thick white head. Medium bodied caramel flavor with a bit of grassy aroma. Subtle brown sugar sweetness.
