In 2005 Xavier Vanneste, son of Mrs Véronique Maes, renovated and restarted the old brewery which had been in the family since 1856. He launched Brugse Zot, a new beer with a unique recipe. Today Brugse Zot is the only beer brewed in Bruges’ town centre!
The people of Bruges are known as "Brugse Zotten" (Bruges Fools), also known as "Brugse Jonckers"

Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 23, 2011
Bottle. Lovely pour before the particulates got dumped in...orange and hazy. Lovely perfume aroma. Spritzy but earthy. Floral and perfumed, but dry. Yeasty and fruity. The yeast comes out much more in the flavors, perhaps tainted by too many particulates in the pour ruining the structure of the beer. But it still finishes dry and good. Will certainly re-rate.

Brewery tap, Bruges. Poured golden with thick white head. Aroma yeasty with some floral notes. Similar taste.

Brandman (2948) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 22, 2011
Browns body, light brown head. Aroma has bready matl and some metal. Little sourness. Flavour has berry choco sourness.

11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours amber with a thick, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, caramel malts, and some floral hops. Flavor about the same. Nothing really sticks out, and the beer has a LOT of yeast floating in it. I would like to try this in Belgium, but it’s still a decent beer.

tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - SEP 19, 2011
Tap @ Brew Wharf. Pours clear orange amber with a decent off white head leaving nice lace. Aroma is yeasty, a bit malty, fruity, sweet and hoppy. Flavor is similar to the aroma, has a nice bitterness. Finishes sweet malty and bitter.

Ontbeertaster (2362) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 18, 2011
Bottle, pours a nice birght yellow, aroma of yeast and spice, taste is similar, overall quite nice

Decman (25) - Dublin, IRELAND - SEP 1, 2011
33cl bottle. A pleasant amber colour, cloudy with a thin white head. Very fruity, mildly hay-like aroma. Light, agreeable taste; goes down easily. Hints of yeast and sweet citrus fruit with an almost wine-like aftertaste. A good drink, but nothing special.

Benzai (15608) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 28, 2011
Bottle @ Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Standard yellow / golden color, white head. Nice fresh smell and taste. Light fruity as well. Not too complicated nice beer.

GothGargoyle (2587) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 27, 2011
Clear golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is of pears, grass and hops. Thin on the palate with a dry and bitter finish. Not much complexity in the taste, flavour is reminiscent of grapefruit with a touch of spice.

Oakes (17676) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 26, 2011
Dull amber with a thin head. Lightly spicy, bready aroma with alcohol accent. Sweetish with orchard fruits, light caramel maltiness.
