Bottle, 330 ml from Beergium, shared with Max and JFK10000. Pours brown, medium tan head. Caramel, malty, hoppy, pine, moderate lasting bitter finish. Smooth. Medium bodied.

Bottle at Zebra in Brussels with commonshawn, samadouche, rosskyle, and dubtully. Black in color with a lighter tan full finger head. Really nice lacing. Aroma is mostly hops with a slight soapy quality and a citrus characteristic. Taste is leaning heavily on hops but feels like its missing the large roasted malty component I desire from a black IPA. Took a risk on ordering this style in Belgium and, while its pretty decent, it doesnt meet my requirements for the style. Hoppy notes with citrus lemony characteristics. Bright and refreshing. Lingering hop aftertaste. Back to Belgian offerings now.

Brune trs rouge, pas trop de mousse, un nez de fruits et trs floral. Une amertume comme jaime, un palais qui ne reste pas trop, mais qui laisse cette amertume. Je recommande vivement

Pours brown with yellow white head and light lacing. Hardly a black IPA on colour. Aroma is orange, lemon, vegetable, light roast and bread. Taste is dry, sweet at the start and a little saison sourness at the finish. Thin for its ABV. Less than the sum of its parts. Pleasant enough, but not black, lacking in punch for its ABV, lacking roast, lacking hops and lacking saison funk!

Towey1989 (2249) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 31, 2017
Bottle at The Bottle Lab, Leek. Pours a deep ruby brown to black colour with a frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some blackcurrant, slight chocolate, a little caramel, a hint of grapefruit and subtle herbal hops. Taste of grapefruit, orange, roasted malts, some coffee, slight dark fruits and subtle herbal hops. Medium bodied but high carbonation. A dry, roasted bitterness in the finish with a herbal hop aftertaste. Roasty on the nose but the citrus and herbal hops come through nicely in the taste. Highly carbonated but otherwise nice.

Bottled, 330ml from BeerMerchants of Kent. Chestnut with cream head. There is a smooth malty body to this, some sweetness, some plummy fruitiness, maybe a hint of cherries. The hopping is quite subtle, restrained, just a light fruitiness along with a spruce note. Raisins in the close. Really quite pleasant.

De geur is weeral zoals drop. De kleur bruin, niet zwart. De smaak is ook zoals drop, geen aanrader.

ardeo (291) - Flmalle, BELGIUM - JAN 24, 2017
Bottle 33cl.
