Pours a clear and light brown, a bit out of style if you ask me. It is topped by a thin offwhite head that doesn’t stay and only offers minimal lacing. Aroma is spicy but also carries some burnt caramel. Taste is sweet and spicy, bordering on cloying. Weird enough, body is kind of light. Carbonation level is medium. An OK dubbel but not something representative of the style.

bottle from saq A: caramel, licorice, grappes , candied sugar , a touch of chocolate app: clear brown with beige head good lacing. t/p: full body with sweet but short finish. kinda creamy. o:a pleasant surprise wasn’t expecting something that good.

DuffMan (10751) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 27, 2013
Bottle. Burnt orange amber, short lived head. Tons of large particulate in suspension. Aroma is sweet and very fruity, like Del Monte Fruit Cocktail. Estery palate, sweet pineapple, barley candy, light phenols in the finish. Not in any way like any abbey dubbed I’ve ever had (and no, that’s not a compliment).

Bottle. Don’t know what Momus means but I’m going to start using it. Pours translucent brown with egg head.Nose is a lot of caramel/toffee and a lot of spice. Clears-the-nose kind of yeast spice... god bless the mighty dubbel. Flavour does have some dark fruit but it’s mainly toffee and spice. Good stuff.

Je ne m’attendais pas à ça! Une ambré fruité avec une touche de caramel, giroffle et anis. Très très crémeuse malgré le léger pétillant. Je ne sais pas si ça se prend en mangeant puisque le goût est délicat. Difficile à trouver

Mortlach (2531) - Rome, ITALY - OCT 15, 2013
Corpo medio-elevato, carbonazione soft. Forse la migliore della linea Brùton.

Ambrée à rousse. Beau collet. Nez très épicé. Fleur. Pomme. Caramel. Girofle. Rhum brun. Fenouil. Bouche: sucré. Aqueuse. Chaleur d'alcool. Boisé. Réglisse. Fruité. Datte. Anis. Pomme cuite. Orange confite. Bien.

MikeKeller (956) - Kemi, FINLAND - SEP 12, 2013
Alla spina @ Beer House Club, Firenze. Reddish brown, clear beer, mostly vanishing white head. Very sweet malty aroma and flavour. Belgian yeast. Sticky mouthfeel and quite flat carbonation. Way too sweet for me but at least the flies seem to like it.

dado93 (153) - ITALY - AUG 19, 2013
Excellent italian product, good amber red color with beige head, aroma is of roasted malts and caramel aroma, taste is sweet, light roasted and spicy, licorice aftertaste, very drinkable beer
