3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Copenhagen 15/10 2016. 50 cl bottle from Meny. Chubby and ditty Bear sitting in a beer barrel on the label. A reference to the tag line that this is a "bearlike Brown ale". Pours clear dark amber with big off-white head. Lacing on the side of glass. Settles as 1 cm thick layer of creamy foam. Aroma of roasted dark malts, fermented plums, alcohol and autumn. Sone sharp sour streak in the background. Light carbonation and medium thick palate. Flavor is prominently sweet with a nice roastiness. Followed by light citrus sourness/bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet chocolate but not particulary long. A good one if you got a sweet tooth and like a weird citrus twist.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle @ friends/panzer. Appearance: pours slightly hazy dark amber-brown with good tan soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, caramel, citrus and chocolate hints. palette: medium citrus hoppy aroma, average to sparkling carbonation, medium body, medium malt sweetness, balanced by an average bitterness, medium duration and a watery texture. Overall: quite good hoppy interpretation of a brown ale.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Serious and persistent foam. The aroma is very enticing aroma hops with citrus touch and light chocolate notes. Taste-wise you have to be a little quick with the taste to capture the underlying flavor notes. It is very intrusive with its citrus hops, and only later in its taste course you sense a lovely caramel malt and a little taste of dark sweet chocolate. But it is its hopping that you will remember. Type wise is the misguided as brown ale, but the label promises a hoppy brown, so it apologize to my mind that it might not hold quite what one expects from a brown ale. I think it is right on the edge of what a beer enthusiast like, then I will be glad to read others’ reviews of this somewhat special brown ale. I think it is excellent, but personally I am inclined probably best for a sweet malt heavy brown ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. An unclear, brown beer topped by a dense, two-finger beige head. There’s a nice grassy, piney hoppyness in the aroma, with a light roasted maltyness. Roasted, grassy and piney flavor with some bitterness. Medium to full body, a bit too carbonated I think. Baking chocolate and some roasted malt in the quite hopppy finish. Well, it’s a decent beer, but it’s far from impressive anyway. 130607

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. 5.0%. Best before 18.03.14. Pours a cloudy to murky amber/light brown with a fluffy light tan head. Great lacing. If not for the murky colour, this would be a 5. Citrus and pine hop aroma, a bit candy-like and with a light old hops cheese note; increasing as it warms. Warming also brings out a light malt note, mucking about in the background. Flavour is sweetish and hoppy. Light cardboard note as it warms. Bitter hop finish, lingering light bitter malt note, which takes on a fledgling liquorice note as it warms. Grassy note as well. Palate feels a bit thin and metallic, and there’s too much carbonation for comfort. Overall okay, but the bitterness feels a bit unbalanced, the old hops cheese note is misplaced, and the palate could be better. Also, not very brown ale-like; too much citrus and pine hops and too little malt for the style ...not to mention the name. Fortunately I like a hop profile better than a malt one. 07.11.13.
