Golden yellow color with no head. Aroma of spice, bread, and banana. Flavor of Belgian yeast, banana, and a bit of grain. While not a bad beer, kind of weak and off for a tripel. Lubiere (14182) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2011
A hazed yellow ale with almost no head. In aroma, sweet terpentine, herbaceous, tangerine, honey, a bit cloying. In mouth, a sweet honey malt, with light frankincense, a bit too sweet, alcohol warmth hidden by overload of sweet malt. On tap at brewpub, April 8th, 2011. kramer (6908) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 15, 2010
On tap, at brewery. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold body with a minimal wispy white head. The nose is thick bready malt with an off green apple note. The flavor is a bit bland and alcoholic. Finishes with a sllight chemical or solvent like note. Not much actual Tripel quality to it at all. Mouthfeel is full and a bit sticky with some alcohol heat on the finish. This wasn’t very good at all, Lacking in any of the positive qualities of a Tripel. TheCaptain (613) - Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 27, 2009
Had the Triple at Bubes - Hazy orange in tulip like glass, small subdued head, little lacing. This had a nice earthy citrus-yeast aroma with a good mellow sweetness on the pallet. Malts and slight hop blend, a great freshness and ABV well hid, but when the sun is hot and the temps climb that ABV comes around real quick, just one of these today. On draft at brewpub. Poured cloudy gold in color with small white head. Aroma of citrus and Belgian yeast esters. Tastes is slightly earthy and has fruity esters, with some lemon citrus, mild spices and mildly sweet. Not bad.

I was also surprised that this tripel was this good. The aroma was especially nice, orange and lemon zest, faintly grassy. Flavor was citrusy with maybe a hint of spice. The slightly sweet house character was present which did detract from it a bit. The bartender agreed that it needed to be a bit drier. Still quite impressive for a small brewpub in Pennsylvania. Bubes makes a surprisingly good trippel. 10.1% alcohol, but very very smooth. Has a nice almost citrus/tad malt aroma. Flavour is a slight tang/citrus/fruit. Very smooth, good body, great beer.
