On tap, at brewery. Pours a clear copper with a small off-white head, some light carbonation. Bam! Crystal malt assault on the nose! I think I got a Lipton instant tea here. The flavor is very thin and watery with just a touch of grainy and toasted malt, zero hops. Crystal malt laced finish. Mouthfeel is thin and light bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Pretty weak and lacking in character. jcwattsrugger (12450) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - NOV 30, 2009
on tap- pours an off white head that laces and copper color. Aroma is sweet light/medium malt, secondary musty/earthy/tea. Taste is sweet light/medium malt, secondary musty/earthy/tea. Done to style. BeerGestapo (754) - Mt.Joy, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 15, 2008
(USA) Courtesy of AFI96, Thanks Waylo !!! Pours a nice amber color with a med white head. The aroma is of caramel with some toffee notes. The taste has some hoppiness to it but overall it’s pretty smooth, thanks to the nitro !! Once again bubes does a fine job of brewing. Hooray for Boobies !!!! afireinside96 (923) - Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 19, 2008
nitro draught. probably the most authentic "English style" bitter I have ever had that was made in America, most American breweries over hop them. golden amber color with a dense white nitro induced head. light smell of caramel and toffee. smooth drinking caramel flavor with a small bitter hop finish. cheers on getting the style done right. dannyboy (2) - Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 11, 2008 does not count
What a nice surprise to find an English Bitter at Bubes. Being on nitro gave it a traditional British look and flavor. I was very impressed with the flavor, carbonation, and overall drinkability of this "session" beer. The hoppiness was just a bit above what I would expect from a traditional bitter but it was certainly not overpowering and more to my liking than some less hoppy bitters. Very nice beer!
