"an imperial version of the black noddy lager, a decent brew. this one is much the same, but bigger, and more warming, in every aspect. huge roasted dry malty aroma, big body, smoke and dry flavor. i still prefer stouts. 10/10-on tap @Buckbean. Opaque deep brown with minimal head and fair lacing.
Aroma of toasted caramel malt and alcohol
Taste of dark fruits, plums, sweet toasted malt, chocolate and caramel.
Medium/light body and above average carbonation.

Sweet roasty and dried fruit aroma. Jet black liquid with tan head. Heavy body, lots of malt complexity, noticeable alcohol, amazingly smooth for such a big beer. This is the best 10+ ABV beer I have ever had. I typically shy away from high alcohol beers because they tend to burn when I drink them. I was blown away by the smoothness of this beer and would have never guessed that it packs a punch. No wonder it won a bronze at the World Beer Cup in 2010. It is such a full tasting, smooth brew, that I feel like I should sit in front of a fire place on a winters night smoking a cigar and sipping this lager. This is a must have beer!

Can… Pours nearly black with a huge, creamy, lightly-tanned head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet is of deeply roasted malts, vanilla, oak, espresso and coconut. Full-bodied and milky with weak carbonation. The flavor is a good bit alcoholic with notations of chocolate, whiskey and oak. Sweet, warming, sourmash finish. Lots of barrel-aged features here, but the commercial description on the can doesn’t mention anything about this being a barrel-aged beer. Enjoyable. Can courtesy of jcwattsrugger!
