A coppery-coloured "best bitter’ in the British style. Robust in flavour, it is balanced by a pleasingly creamy texture, a clear maltiness and long, hoppy finish.

Verbatim from notes 16JUL11 Pours a light brown with brilliant clarity. No head, no lace. A bit dark for the style. Nose first impression is of a connecticut wrapper on a cigar with high oils; otherwise wood, tobacco, some molasses. This is nice, but doesn’t smell like an ESB. Tastes sweet and malty. This does not taste like an ESB, more like a brown. Thin and flat for the style with a semi dry finish. New recipe require for this one if it wants to be an ESB IMO. Serving type: on-tap 08-04-2011

Tap. Pours a clear amber body with a small wispy off-white head. The nose is lightly soapy and chemical smelling with some thin toasty and caramel malt. The flavor is thin toasty malt up front with a little huskiness and minimal floral hops on the finish with a slightly soapy note. Mouthfeel is light bodied, thin, with fizzy carbonation. Not good, too sweet with some definite off notes.

Draft - Candy malts and molasses. Clear amber with a thin head. A little dark fruit and sugar. The bitterness hits at the end and has a touch of sourness. A typical English style bitter.

Tap. Poured clear ruby color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted malt and bitter aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid beer.

Boozy mouthful though I imagine this isn’t that hardcore on alcohol. This isn’t really eve a bitter. Unbalanced and messy, and generally not very good. On tap at brewpub.

Draught at the brewpub. Copper-coloured with foamy off-white head. Bready, earthy caramel with some resiny hop. Light sweetness with good, crisp bitter initial pop and lasting finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Solidly mediocre.

On tap.Gah... bready, very much so, with a cardboard problem. This is rated the highest of the six I had tonight but for me it was the worst, could be personal taste.

riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Toasty sweet nose light earthy woody hop character. Definitely one of sweeter bitters I’ve had. Pours coper thin head. Sugary sweet to start and finish with toast and a somewhat dry earthy woody character to back ot up. Too sweet and almost cloying at times.

Tap @ brewpub. Amber orange appearance with an ivory head. Woody, toasty, caramel malty nose. Low carbonation. Woody, bitter caramel flavor. Bleh.

Bottled (shared by brunnsbe, thanks!). mber colour, small white head. Aroma is parumed soap, some floral and grassy hops as well as some mild sweetish notes. Flavour is much the same along with crisp caramel malts and some earth.
