Noir avec un petit tête marron. L’arôme faible du chocolat. Le goût est du malt torréfié avec un peu du chocolat et très peu d’amertume. Servi à une bonne temperature. Il y a plein de meilleur stout selon moi.

August 17th, 2012 - Rounding out my flight of tasters at the Swan’s Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, is an oatmeal stout. This is a forgiving style, and even after the admirably flavorful tastes of this hotel’s scotch ale, there was a little bit of reconciling to do about everything else that showed up on my perforated paddle. My hope was that the oatmeal stout wasn’t bad. And in fact, it wasn’t. It reminds me of a Guinness, but with an added layer of roasted malt in both the nose and flavor, with an appealing dryness and a thin body produced by the addition of the oats. It’s not quite as sweet as I may have expected, but that’s okay. It’s still a dark note to end on, and goes some way to proving that where Swan’s shines (though with a dull sort of polished bronze shine) is in the darker styles. houblonchien (89) - CANADA - APR 15, 2014

SOS: Rose mahogany stout with brilliant clarity. No head and no lace. Should be a little darker. Smells of malts, molasses, dark brown sugar, raisins. Taste is of roasted, sweet and buttered - which actually suits this well. A little too sweet IMO. Thin for the style with low carb, needs more body to feel right. Although this tastes okay and may be quite sessionable, it falls from the best or above avg oatmeal stouts. Too sweet, too thin.

Tap. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a small wispy light brown head. The nose is sweet and roasty with some black patent malt and chocolate fudgecake like notes. The flavor is thin roast and chocolate with minimal to no bitterness. Finishes with a sweet burnt caramel note. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, slight stickiness, light carbonation. Meh, pretty bland and middle-of-the-road stuff.
