Nice spice mixture with sweet malt to boot. Good thick color, decent head. Very good winter brew. Thanks alcfron! JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - DEC 26, 2002
Brown colored w/ a thin tan head. Lots of spice on the nose & tongue (but none in the beer). Very tasty winter beer. Thanks alcfron bluemeow76 (693) - Lewis Center, Ohio, USA - DEC 26, 2002
Deep gold and copper pour with a thin head. Nice spicey aroma and flavor - cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves. A good blend. Dogbrick (13012) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 25, 2002
2002 Bottle: Thanks to alcfron to sending me 22oz of holiday joy! First of all this is the first ever beer I have had that had a wax-sealed top. How cool is that? Dark copper color with a thin light beige head. Sediment left in the bottle. I am flabbergasted that they add no spice to this beer, as the aroma is a spiced mix of clove, corriander and burnt orange. Both the flavor and texture are a rich blend of sweet malt, spices, and fruits. This is a great addition to the grand tradition of holiday brews. jsquire (4490) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - DEC 5, 2002
2002 - The bottle recommends drinking out of a snifter, so I did. Cloudy orange in color with a light head that left an attractive ring and good lace. This beer has a dark sweetness to it with plum/raisen/grape flavors. Very smooth with a clean finish. As it warms the body fills out and the candied sugars add more to the flavor, almost like eating a fig newton. Very enjoyable Belgian styled beer.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2003 2002 - poured brown and thick - couldn't see thru it. Spicy - ginger/clove and especially cinamon. Unique flavors, considering there's no actual spices in the brew. Medium sweet malts with some unusual graininess that adds a nice texture, dry finish with some candy sugar. Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - NOV 24, 2002
2002 bottle. This year’s version is unfiltered. Has a spicy sweet nose. Light brown color, crisp and light on the palate. Unique. TAR (2765) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - APR 14, 2002
UPDATED: OCT 29, 2003 Pours with a large/small bubble head that turns rocky. Aroma is cottage cheese and a very subtle hint of perfumey hops. Slightly medicinal, doughy; vinous, slight hint of caramel and nuts. Highly carbonated and unique. Masterful. MikeF (538) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - MAR 4, 2002
This is a wonderful, rich, spicey beer. Perfect for cold days. The ginger taste really began to grow on me.
