Opaque with large frothy brown head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of floral and grassy hops, mocha and coffee, dusty yeast esters, smoky and dark malts, and some tart fruits. The flavor is surprising, lots of grapefruit and bitters, on top of mocha and malty undertones. Some smoky and nutty tones on the finish. The mouthfeel is full for style with a crisp bite on finish. This stout does not fit any style, too bitter for a sweet, too malty for a dry, and not enough punch for an Imperial..but still quite YUMMY! Almost the stout equal to Three Floyds Alpha Klaus. On tap: Aroma is malty with coffee, chocolate and light hops. Dark brown, virtually black with a small tan head. Flavor begins with a lot of coffee and a real interesting smoked flavor in the background. As I drink the smoke almost disappears and is overtaken by some strong grapefruit hops. Much hoppier than most stouts. Slight coffee and moderately hoppy aftertaste. vyvvy (6470) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - AUG 23, 2008
Pours very dark with a dense tan head. The aroma has roasty malt, white chocolate, woody / oakiness and some light coffee. As it warms the chocolate turns darker and more bitter. Medium thin body that’s crisp and smooth with lots of soft carbonation. The flavor begins with charred chocolate malt, sweet white chocolate, some spice and a bit of a twang. The finish has more twang and tartness that works well for the style and compliments the char. Nice foreign stout. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 12, 2008
Bomber that I think was left over my house by imtheoptimator. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate, oats, come coffee, roasty. Tastes roasty and chocolatey with a sweet malty finish. Enjoyable. JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - SEP 1, 2005
Very dark brown, nearly black with a moderate bubbly tan head. Roasted malts, dark cocoa, mild herbs, and light coffee. Fuller feel sensed from the oatmeal. Light dark fruit sweetness, mix with roasted malts and coffee. Mild earthy peat flavors join in. Flavors are welcome, but seem disjointed. Still a very nice effort.

In short: A dry and very roasted stout with a strong cacao presence and a good hopping. Nothing original but this is highly drinkable.Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - APR 20, 2009
How: Bottle 22oz. Purchase when I visited the brewery, consumed when 8 months of age
The look: Almost black body topped by a large tan head
In long: Nose is lightly roasted with cacao notes and some locker room sweat (I get that sometimes from certain hops). The beer feels rather dry, almost chalky. Not fruity notes whatsoever. Short but sharp hops bitterness. The beer was maybe a little too roasted and chalky for its own good, like trying to swallow cacao powder, it felt like it was getting stuck in my throat. However the floury cacao flavour was rather pleasant and the bitter finish was nice. Strong hops presence that soften-up the beer with a mild juicy bitterness. Medium body with an expansive carbonation. Pleasant straightforward brew that does the basic things very well, a very good example of Keep It Simple Stupid. Cleveland area people are lucky to have that little brewery/brewpub in their backyard. A backyard in serious need of a groundkeeper I must add.
BOMBER. Thanks to MikeTD, can’t wait to share a brew with this guy. Pours a black body with a cola tan head. Malty with a hint of licorice and some dry oats and a light caramel body. Hints of chocolate with a mild etoh warming. Hint of dry minerals and calcium with a light roast y bitterness. A well balanced stout and quite session able with a nice body and good flavor. Bottle: Black, THICK, tan head, just overcarbonated. Lots of lacing obviously. Nose of bright coffee, carbonation and roast chocolate. The flavor has a strong carbonation coming through that you can’t taste it, but it’s sweet and rich with lots of umami and dark sweet molasses. Finishes nice. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - AUG 16, 2005
This is solid. Everything I look for in a dry stout. The body is black with a light orange head. The aroma is oranges and some maple. There is also a little caramel. The taste is coffee and potatoes. There is also dark chocolate with some sweet and light maple. I want more dry stouts like this. Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 2, 2009
Bottle shared by Dak. Black and opaque with tight tan head. Metallic aroma is fully of lead. The flavors are similarly lead-laden and paltry. Unfortunately, not liking it.
