Brewed after the German style with a little higher alcohol percentage. Brewed with roasted barley which gives it a darker color and a characteristic malty taste.

4.8% cask at ’Spoons. Not the same beer as the one listed which is a filtered and bottled beer at 6%abv. Not that I’m bothered. This is a dull beer. Not interesting in any way. Very light in the mouth. Strange off flavour like tinned oranges. Stale hops in the finish. Crap.

Danev76 (505) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 12, 2014
Nice honey malt aroma. Clear golden colour with no head. Malty flavour strong on honey and caramel with smooth finish. Medium to heavy body with low carbonation.

Alengrin (5334) - BELGIUM - AUG 2, 2014
Dutch interpretation of the old Düsseldorf beer style, with off-white head and deep amber colour, aroma and taste fruity in onset, malty with hints of caramel and nuts as in a German Altbier, bit metallic, herbal hop bitterness in the finish.

Bouteille 330ml.

Metalchopz (3384) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 2, 2011
Originally rated January 2006. Pours a golden colour with some copper in it. The fizzy white head has good retention and lace. Quite foamy and wavy, looks like mountains. Medium carbonation. Alcohol is really present in the nose, with some grain malt and hop bitterness. Oily mouthfeel. The taste is not bad though, but light (like all of their other brews so far). Slightly bitter, slightly dry, with a half chemical aftertaste and some metal. Not as bad as it sounds, but would rather try the cask version of this brew, at 4.8% ABV.

Bottle at the Post De Molen 30 beer breakfast bash ... copper thin lacing ... unpleasant musty nose ... sweet sugary lager.

Borresteijn (7035) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 21, 2010
30cl Bottle at In de Wildeman. This must be an aged example, because it’s not in production anymore, and lacks a body label. So no BB date. Clear amber colour, off white head. Aroma of thick sweet malts, toffee, a bit of fruits. Flavour is sweet, malty, toasted malts, caramel/toffee, a light vegetable note, a bit grassy and sweet finish. Medium bodied. Not so bad, but nothing like a German Alt.

Bottle 300ml.
Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, roasted, caramel, brown sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20091031]

Jerre (3378) - Waregem, BELGIUM - AUG 2, 2009
Bottle from Martinus beershop @ Abbey Achel. Clear amber color, with a off-white head. Aroma sweet, bit caramel, malts, fruit touch. Medium body. Taste sweet, fruits, bit dry. Light bitter.

dutchbeerpages (2439) - Wilnis, NETHERLANDS - MAY 8, 2009
smell of ash and oats with apple juice. Tastes a little like apple juice too with a slightly hoppy taste. Flavor isn’t super but it’s refreshing and easy to drink.

johndoughty (5438) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2009
Bottle. Brown and very malty with a medium body. Poured with a small had. A straightforward and pleasant example of this style.
