Abbey beer, ruby colour, top-fermentation beer, outstanding owing to its soft flavour and fantastic aroma. This beerís name comes from the French Capuchins, who had a monastery in Budel at the beginning of the last century.

Pours a deep dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits. Taste is sweet caramel. Decent but a bit dull Dubbel.

GSAP (742) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 13, 2013
Fijne roomzachte afdronk met kruidig karakter. Smaak is mokkakoffie, wijn en caramel. Aroma is zoetig, wat kruiden en een vlakkig zuurtje. Fijn met dit kille herstweer.

blackisle (2527) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - OCT 8, 2013
Clear and deep redbrown, off-white head, also creamy lacing, sweet malts, roasted, caramel, brown sugar, fruit (plum, apricot), herbs, taste at first roasted malts and fruity, followed by light bitterness, soft taste, creamy sticky texture, medium to full body, average carbo, finish is malty and fruity (slightly sour) with light bitterness, well-balanced rich beer

MarcoDL (4844) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 7, 2013
Standard Belgian dubbel with a very thin body. Some notes of malt and fruit. Boring.

Bosbouw (2899) - Gemonde, NETHERLANDS - SEP 11, 2013
Donkere chocoladebruine kleur met goede schuimkraag. Ruikt zoetig en een beetje fruitig, grapefruit. Smaakt veels te zoet. Tonen van caramel en iets frutig.

Abijen (2571) - ís-Hertogenbosch, NETHERLANDS - JUN 26, 2013
Pours a nice dark red beer with a not very long lasting head. Smells quite good. A little bit sour and fish. Salty. The taste is not so nice. Strange ingredient.

WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - MAY 31, 2013
Pours very dark brown, beige head. Nose is a lot of chocolate, malt, cola. Flavour is similar, subtle malt, a lot of esters, somewhat phenolic, caramel. This is probably the subtlest dubbel Iíve ever had. Iím really taking a liking to it though, itís very sessionable. No overpowering molasses flavour. 3/4 dubbel, 1/4 porter.

Mahogany brown colour with thin but well maintained head. Taste has a sticky sweetness on the lips. Quite fruity.

Christos (5694) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - FEB 6, 2013
300 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6.5% Three fingers of off-white, sopay head, with very good retention, especially after it loses its initial half size. Heavy lacing left behind. Colour of the beer itself is a very dark mohogany brown. Impressive. Sweet aroma of roasted malts and lots of caramel and at the same time a bit sour, of stewed dark fruits. Taste is sweet at first and fruity. Lots of the roasted malts here too, along with fruits, becomes a very pleasant light bitterness, with delicious choclate notes. Full body, as much carbonation as needed and sort of sticky on the palate. Pleasantly surprised with this one, a truly delicious beer, although I am sure many will find it too sweet.
