2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 mL pour on tap at a restaurant in Prague on 6/5. Straw yellow pour with a pillowy white head. Sweet grainy aroma and flavor. Nothing offensive about it, but I’m just not huge on pilsners and this beer really didn’t change my mind on that. Decent, but nothing special either.
On tap at brewery in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. Pours a pale biscuity gold with a thin white head. Aroma: biscuity malt, mild citrus and sweet malt. Taste: biscuity and sweet malt, mild citrus flavours, mild grassy/herbal flavours. Basic flavour palate. Moderate carbonation. Thin bodied. Mild sweetness. Easy drinking, and quite tasty when fresh - not quite as good quality when bottled in my experience. Not an amazing beer, but perfect when coupled with hearty Czech or German food!

330 ml bottle into lager glass, best before 1/6/2018. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a small dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, white bread dough, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an awesome Czech pilsner! All around great robustness and balance of pale malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the balancing bitter/drying finish. Perfectly executed style example. Never too bitter/drying, and very flavorful for the ABV. Clean pils malt flavors with balancing Saaz hops. A highly enjoyable offering, one of the best I have had in the style.

Colour is very light yellow. Strong smell of malt and corn, a bit of a sweet smell. Taste has a bit of cereal in there, corn again. Pretty good for a lager. Grumbo (3720) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2017
Tap at the Red Lion, Woodbridge. Poured a deep gold with a large frothy white head. Aromatic, floral and hoppy. Moderate sweetness and mid bitterness. Light to medium body, texture a little watery, average to soft carbonation.
