It’s been a while since I had this fresh, in Germany, but oh boy was it good. This is a lot like pilsener Urquell, but sweeter/maltier. I’m anxious to try it now that it will be here in the USA.

This is a lager; pretty malty really and not too bad. I think it is overpriced in my area, so no real reason to get again, but it is worth trying.

Good easy drinking beer. In large settings, easy drink and easy palate for most.

Review: 0.51CL Bottle of Budweiser Budvar B:Original Czech imported lager : ABV: 5% The iconic beer, the original, totally different to that American namesake, coming in a large 0.51CL bottle. On pour get a nice clear golden colour that produces a decent looking white head, that is big and frothy. Head maintains. Some nice carbonation, actively bubbling away. It is a nice and clear looking beer that’s for sure, what a beer should look like. Promising…….. Lovely beery smell of grains and malted barley. Nice aroma………. On taste a very beery taste, clean and crisp, strong in alcohol content, can definitely feel the alcohol and yeast in the beer and very smooth to drink. Perhaps a little too malty for me though There is a lot of carbonation and I do wonder if the green bottles have something to do with the overall taste, as it tastes ok but a little skunky, and considering its reputation it is nothing amazing. Very smooth, definitely a session beer as its very drinkable, despite not having an amazing array of tastes. Light in hops, no aftertaste to speak of. As mentioned, a lot of Malt, it is really malty! But overall, it is a good session beer, wouldn’t mind downing a few of these, and one I would like to try again for the future, preferably in downtown Prague…..(or Budějovice!) with a fresh version.

Pale clear golden yellow with quickly disolving white head. Light sweet malt aroma with quite some diacetyl (almost a little estery with banana notes I think). The taste has medium malty sweetness (bread and a faint sense of werthers echte like candy) plus a little hayish hop flavor. Light bitter finish.

Bottle 0.33L. Clear golden body with an average, frothy, white head, mostly lasting with fair lacing; average density of medium-sized bubbles. Moderate malty (grains) and hoppy (herbal) aroma. Moderate bitter and light-to-moderate sweet flavour: average-lasting balanced finish. Light-to-medium body with watery texture; average carbonation.

Pretty standard lager, not overly thin pale gold color and soapy head; doesn’t look cheap if nothing else. Aroma is lightly musty and grainy; bread malt, grass. Taste is grainy, malty, some bitter hop profile, light vanilla; passable until a prominent metallic note in the finish. Carbonation is fairly well handled. Flawed and not very interesting.
