COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

Budvar tmavy served in a small glass goblet at brewery in 2011 (from notes). Žatek hops and 3 types of Moravian barley: Munich, caramel and roasted. A semi-dry malty flavor that is more bitter than sweet. The aroma is typical of a Czech dark lager, but the flavor is less sweet, a tad more hoppy, and more complex. Aroma is similar to the nearby Eggenberg dark that also uses Moravian barley. Very dark mahogony, nearly opaque, with a light tan head that reduces rather quickly (typical for style) to a lating ring that leaves Iittle lacing. Medium body and enough carbonation to impart some crispness O - an outstanding Czech dark lager, although probably at its best here at the brewery. (Trying the beer again many km from the brewery, I find the beer to be indistinguishable from that at the brewery).

from bottle. Seems dark enough even through bottle, very pleasant, mild hops aroma, very interesting hops. Not grassy, not herbal or very aromatic but the combination of... weird but very pleasant. Taste is pleasant light sweet plus medium bitter, more from roasted malt. Flavor reminds roasted rye bread plus Bohemian pilsner. I haven’t tried dunkels for long time and his seems very solid. Medium bodied, a bit velvet texture, seems medium to high carbonated, dry finish. Pleasant.

For what it is, it is ok, BUT its not something special.Nice roasted taste, with with the blandness of a lager.

Black budvar lager beer. Not as clean as the pils lager but palatable. Drunk from 0.5 bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
