COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

500ml bottle served cold at home.. Dark Brown witha beige head that laces down the glass. Roasty mocha aroma, tasty chocolate coffee and smokey flavour. Full bodied, which has been a quality lacking in some dark lagers I’ve had.Slightly sticky palate. Much better than I expected. Ooh, bit of farmyard aftertaste!

Bottle, 500 ml, bought from an online shop while on vacation in Greece. Poured into my Guinness glass. ABV 4.7% Very dark brown colour on the body, with a tall brown head on top, soapy, with average retention and light lacing left on the glass. Nice aroma of roasted malts mainly, with faint hints of chocolate. Taste is full of roasted malts, the chocolate much more notable now, a hint of sweetness before the bitterness from the roasted malts kicks in, with good duration too. Medium thick body, oily palate, a bit overcarbonated. Overall, pretty nice.

Bottle, labeled Budéjovický Budvar Dark Lager. Pours a dark brown beer with a small, tanned head on top. Aroma is malty, nutty and slightly spiced. Flavor returns some of the nutty influences as well as a medium sweetness overall. Easy drinkable and sessionable. Decent.

Surprisingly I had never had this beer until I went to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the Washington DC National Mall on July 4th. Poured from a ice-cold bottle. Medium brown color, translucent when held up against the light, but mostly clear opaque with a slightly off-white head. Aroma was roasted malts, light hops character. Sweet malts, light roasted character. Refreshing.

Budweiser Budvar Dark, draft at U Medvidku pub. Poured with fluffy tan head into a nice liter mug. Smoky, toasty aroma. Flavor starts with roast then mellows to a nutty middle. Dry body, slightly ashy finish. Without knowing the style I’d say this makes for a pretty compelling, tasty schwartzbier. Went very well with my beef goulash! 3.4.
