Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

Bottle from Tesco. Dark brown beer with small head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is of roasted coffee and chocolate notes. The palate is a little disapointing rather watery. An OK beer will try other dunkels to compare.

Large tan head over dark body with ruby highlights. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, and coffee. Quite pleasing. Taste of roast and nuts, light body. More roast and some espresso in the palate. On the whole this is a bit of a one-dimensional beer (big roast and little anything else) but it does that one dimension well.

Wirstrom’s, Stockholm tap: Pours black with a brownish head... looks more like a Schwarz. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and nuts. The beer has some lactose characteristics in my opinion, or maybe that is just the body when on tap. Nice mouthfeel as a result. Very slight roasted malt taste. This ain’t bad, and it does grow on you after a bit.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2012 From beginning seems like a one trick pony on the roasty malt with subtle caramel. This dominates and stands out to the end of the 500ml glass. The beer stands up thu-out. I don’t get the coffee and chocolate complexities of other Czech darks at all. This has something that staropramen dark is missing and vice versa.... maybe I’ll mix a half and half haha. Least the Staro gives off a deeper coffee aroma. 2 Finger head dies rater quickly on the few I had in hot weather. << update. I’m trying to understand the hop character. something tells me the roasty malts (that are sweet when I lick the inside of my cheaks and lips) are hiding the ingredients and process that are lost from the more original recipes. Well my rating stands at a 2.8 ... and could swing up to a 3 me thinks (maybe). Without this roast would be very flat. update: Get more of a bitter edge on this long finish note, almost stout and not multi-complicated a beer. Now have a better taste on this as the first time my throat was a bit off which the malt roast was a bit irratating. I now have a bit better bite on the top of the tongue so that also bumps up this beer for me a bit. 3 is kind :)
