COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prémiový tmavý ležák doplňuje tradiční nabídku piva z pivovaru Budějovický Budvar, n. p. od roku 2004. Je vyroben stejným postupem jako originální světlý ležák, za použití nejvybranějšího žateckého chmele, moravského sladu, vody čerpané ze 300 m hlubokých artéských studní a tří druhů speciálních barevných ječných sladů: mnichovského, karamelového a praženého.

Charakterizuje jej výrazně tmavá barva, suchá, jemně hořká karamelová chuť bez dominance sladkosti. Vůně je delikátní po praženém sladu.

TBone (17530) - Pori, FINLAND - JAN 23, 2005
Draught
Dark nut brown, small brown head. Aroma has fruits: flowery hops, trefoil, menthol and hints of roast. Refrshing with flowery hops. Oily hoppy and chocolaty aftertaste. Much better than "normal" Budvar.

50 cl bottle poured to glass. Dark brown body colour with quickly fading tan head. Sweet dunkel.

Bottle. A clear, dark brown beer with a beige head. Slightly oxidizied aroma with a little touch of smoke. Sure on the malty side, could use a little more balance, but quite good. The flavor is on the other hand a bit boring, roasted and malty, lacking on the hops and bitterness. Coffee-like finish. Medium body with a decent carbonation level. Except for the "dark" part, the beer is quite boring. Easy to drink though. (080620)

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2011 Draught @ U Medvidku, Prague. Pours dark brown with a small white head. Sweet nose of fruit, bread and caramel. Tasty flavor of bread and caramel. Medium bodied. Clean.

500ml bottle. Dark reddy brown, rich froth for a head. Roasty and hoppy aroma. Wickedly bitter hoppy taste fights with punchy dark burnt malt taste for your attention. Don’t get me wrong, this is a well balanced fight. Anyway neither wins until the end of the aftertaste, as the bitterness survives longer. What’s this? The burnt malt wants a rematch?...

bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Draft at The Spaniards on the Heath. Dark brown color with orange/garnet hilites. Creamy light tan head. Dark toasted malt aroma. Near full bodied with medium carbonation. It is balanced, but whether from hop or burnt malt I cannot say. Suugests the old Guinness in a way, but with a different bitter.

Theis (15152) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 1, 2007
Bottle at the hotelroom in Prague. Clear dark brown (almost black) - offwhite head. Burned, bread, ryebread, berries, dried fruits, raisins, dry. OK !!
