Green bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a smalllasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, licorice, coffee and cocoa. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastiness, licorice, coffee, cocoa and light dried fruit with a smooth lingering roasty cocoa finish. gunnfryd (15097) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 3, 2008
Bottle. Red dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel. Flavour is sweet, roasted, coffe, caramel. A little bit boring beer. DSG (15035) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - SEP 1, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2008 Bottle. Quite a good-looking beer of dark brown color with a big beige head that diminishes slowly. Aroma of some roasted malt, caramel and coffee notes. Sweet flavor with nice maltiness, caramel, some roastiness and some dark bread and coffee notes. A lingering drier finish, quite bitter, with light Saaz hoppiness. Medium-bodied, but could use a bit more body. A good Dunkel, I enjoyed this one almost as much as I enjoy the regular Budvar. imdownthepub (14961) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2006
Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml. Black beer with pale head. Nice malty sweet aroma leading to a big fruity flavoured beer, plenty of caamel and licquorice and fruity notes. Burnt charcoaly flavors too giving a bitter finish. Very pleasant. Borup (14949) - Albertslund, DENMARK - JAN 27, 2007
Bottle. Dark brown colour with a medium off-white head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, hops, chocolate and caramel.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. This beer met my expectations. HenrikSoegaard (14291) - Randers, DENMARK - SEP 15, 2006

Bottle from Beer Run, Czechvar Dark label, best buy 01.31.14, so several months out of date even though I got this a few days ago and it was also new at the retailer. Pours a dark brown color with a thin creamy tan head. Poor head retention. Skunky aroma with notes of raisin and caramel. The taste is raisin, coffee, caramel, skunky hops. Thin bodied. Could be refreshing if not shipped way out of date in a green bottle. Fail. Christian (13753) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 4, 2009
Copper with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel and a roasted/burnt note. Sweet with some bready malt, roast malt, a little hop flavour and good bitterness. bierkoning (13451) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - MAY 21, 2006
Bought it in the Trink Gut in Nordhorn for only € 0,70 a bottle, named Budvar Premium Dark Lager. Dark brown color, creamy head. Roasted malt and grass in the aroma. Coffee, roast, apple and a grassy hopbitterness in the flavor. Also caramel. Thinnish, but certainly has complexity. Very well made dunkel.
