The beer is brewed by Daniel Westmoreland from the Williamsburg, Va. brewery and was developed in collaboration with brewmasters Mike Anderson in Jacksonville, Fla. and Dan Kahn in Cartersville, Ga. “We took staves from fresh bourbon barrels and we aged the beer on those staves and spiced it with a hint of vanilla,” said Westmoreland, who has been a Budweiser brewmaster for more than 30 years. “It’s an all-malt brew, and it has a perfect color that is similar to the color of bourbon itself. Batch No. 23185 has a nice vanilla aroma with a little oakiness on the end – it’s a great beer.”

Pours clear golden with barely any head with basically no aroma. Has some notes of the vanilla and oak but nothing really standout. Tastes like another failed project. Doesn’t completely blow, but doesn’t really do anything for me.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear light amber with a half finger of white head. Aroma of light grains, some vanilla and a little boozy oak...all very weak though. Taste of light grains, light vanilla and light banana. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, not bad. This probably should have won.

12oz bottle (courtesy of Headbanger) poured into a Lager glass at 34°. Color is a deep gold with good carbonation and a thin fizzy head. Aroma of vanilla and a bit of malt. Light body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor of corn, caramel and vanilla. After taste is a mild bitterness with the vanilla hang on for just a bit. Overall its ok, I wish the bourbon barrel flavors would have shown up.

Pours a clear light copper body with a small fizzy white head that vanishes pretty quickly. The nose is pretty light, just some caramel sweetness and a little toasted malt. There might be a touch of wood, but it’s a stretch. The flavor is pretty similar to the other, caramel sweetness and not a whole lot else. No wood, bourbon or vanilla to speak of. Some light vanilla did emerge as it got closer to room temp. It’s pretty clean and well lagared though, very smooth and pretty crisp on the finish. Medium bodied, fairly thick in texture for the style really. Nice soft fizzy carbonation cuts thru the heaviness well. Overall this is pretty decent on its own. Fares much worse when in context of what they say they are going to give you though. Very drinkable though.

Clear golden coloured body with a thin, very fast-dying white head. Aroma of pale malt, some light sugars and a hint of earth - not much else noticeable. Light-bodied; Sharp pungent cardboard and malt notes with nothing else but more funkiness and cardboard. Aftertaste shows some light earthiness, a bit of alcohol and that unpleasant maltiness that is just stale and dank. Overeall, a pretty bad offering, but that’s pretty much to be expected from this brewery, isn’t it? I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 12-December-2012 for US$0.98 sampled at home in Washington on 02-February-2013.

Barely any aroma. Copper color. Taste is pretty good. Caramel, vanilla, oak...a little watered down, but pretty good. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Of the three Project 12 beers I tried, this is the best one. Color was deep amber. Nice head. Taste was mild, slight oaky vanilla. Aroma was grains, watery, vanilla. Nice.

Hate to get overly simple on this one, but if they didn’t try hard, neither will I. Taste like Bud Ice aged on oak.

In aroma getting same sour hay and green apple scent that's found in other macro brews also getting faint hint of vanilla and bread Pours a brilliantly clear gold with quickly disappearing head Lots of vanilla flavor up front and all the way to the end. Really mellow vanilla though. Also some bready malts and spicy hops Medium bodied with medium co2 clean quick malty finish Aroma not so great but beer looks appetizing and the vanilla in the flavor is really smooth and enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of my friend Noel - thanks! Aroma is sweet malt, caramel and light vanilla. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, light grains and faint vanilla. Body is light-medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more caramel, sweet malt, grains and light vanilla.
