3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
FROM NOTES: October 16, ’13. Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a snifter.
A: HOLY gingerbread, Batman! More gingerbread flavors and nutmeg with a hint of pine and some toasted malt.
A: Pours almost black with a two finger tan head.
T: Follows the nose with gingerbread flavors, then some roasted malt notes, along with chocolate, coffee, toasted malts. HUGE cinnamon and spice flavors leave it a bit unbalanced, but still fairly enjoyable.
P: A smooth, medium to full body with a low carbonation, but not under carbonated at all.
O: I enjoyed this beer but the extremely strong spice makes one or two for the holiday season plenty for me.
Bottle. Aroma and taste is mainly general gingerbread spices, cinnamon, ginger etc. Really light body, the beer is bit watery, sweetish in taste with spicy finish. Nice. drfabulous (8085) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - MAR 23, 2017
Bottle shared at Todd’s. Big and dark with so much ginger and not as much gingerbread. Light body. Andrew196 (1921) - Katy, Texas, USA - DEC 4, 2016
Bomber to tulip - Looks wonderful, dark mahogany with brown edges. Thin but frothy light tan head...looks inviting. Smells richly of ginger and nutmeg, notes of earth and chocolate. Spice carries over sharply to the tongue. Flavor yields more to chocolate and caramel towards the end with a decent bitterness. Traces of coffee grounds at the finish. Good stuff! Shared 22 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head that rapidly recedes to a thin film. Taste and aroma are surprisingly enough.....gingerbread. Maybe a bit of roasted malt coming through, but this is all gingerbread. Ginger, nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. It’s as advertised, but the spices are too heavy for my tastes. darbeer75 (909) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - APR 9, 2016
Aroma: all gingerbread without any other beer characteristics; Appearance: pitch black with fizzy white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: lots of gingerbread with some underlying malt, verging on overwhelming; Palate: heavy bodied with long, ginger finish with slightly unpleasant taste; Overall: a small glass would be welcome but anything over 3-4 oz is too much; would not buy again. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a bit of tan foam. Just a hint of red around the edges if held up to a bright light. Aroma is roasty with a strong spicy smell - gingersnaps. Taste is in-your-face ginger, a bit too much if you as me, with roasted coffee flavors. Good stuff, but tone down the ginger please. DCLawyer (2846) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - DEC 31, 2015
Backlog from Brony Bottle Share at Travlr’s. Deep brown with lite tan head. Gingerbread spice dominates, over chocolate malt. Eh. chadmasontx (28) - - SEP 10, 2015
Pours black with a thin light brown head. Smells of gingerbread. Taste is a fairly standard stout with some gingerbread flavor.
