COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We set out to craft a beer that could only be made in Houston - something that couldn’t be replicated anywhere else on the planet, even in a laboratory We smoked our malt at Beaver’s, Goode Company and Rockwell’s Tavern up in Cypress, and blended those malts as the base for a strong scotch ale. Houston’s BBQ scene is literally infused in the malt of this beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Ori. Clear red-brown. Smoke and a little fruity in the nose, with sweet apple notes. Sweet, a little alcoholic, candy taste. Medium body, light fizz, sweet, candy finish.

Pours hazy, barely translucent mahogany with a thin pale buff head. Aroma features woody and smoky tones. Flavor delivers caramel, smoky, fruit and fresh malt notes. Body is OK, fizz is good. Don’t let this one get bayou!

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2016 Not a pretty beer in my opinion... pours a swampy amber, minimal head. Aroma of spicy caramel, tobacco. Soft on the tongue, rich maltiness, caramel, woodiness, oak, pecan, notes of bourbon and even spearmint. Chocolate came through with warmth. Lingering finish.

I got this in a trade a while back and kind of forgot I had until my wife mistakenly grabbed it and because she thought it was another beer. Anyway, very malty, very rich palate. Lot of caramel and molasses, with maybe the faintest hint of smoke. Pretty good.

Clear deep Amber with a fast fading head. Nice nose with some sweet earthy caramalt and gentle smokiness with a touch of sweet boozy ester, and slight candi sugar notes. Big sweet flavor with berries and candi sugar and a bit of earthy sweet booziness. There’s a slight berry and citrus flavor with some gentle winter mulled spices.
