COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We set out to craft a beer that could only be made in Houston - something that couldn’t be replicated anywhere else on the planet, even in a laboratory We smoked our malt at Beaver’s, Goode Company and Rockwell’s Tavern up in Cypress, and blended those malts as the base for a strong scotch ale. Houston’s BBQ scene is literally infused in the malt of this beer.

Brown pour, cream colored head. Smoke and caramel up front. Toasted cashews, bread, brown sugar. Decent brew.

Murky brown black pour with tan Nisha head. Mostly milky chocolate. Not a ton of smoke. Ok though.

SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - AUG 4, 2014
Pours murky reddish orange with a small tan ring. Smells mildly smokey and hints of caramel. Taste is sweet, a little hint of bitterness, caramel, smoke. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Buffalo Bayou Smoke on the Bayou finishes with a lingering sweetness.

Ferris (15910) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 14, 2014
Bottle - Caramel sweetness and a nuttiness that rounds it out nicely. Cloudy amber with a rich beige head. Almost Pecan and caramel with a rich sweetness that follows through to the end. The smoke is very mild if there at all and I think that is that nutiness I get. Nice beer, matly and sweet but not enough smoke characteristics.

harrymel (1551) - Spokane, Washington, USA - MAR 8, 2014
Bottled: unk Pours a red ale with brown hues. A etched surface of whites. Smells of smoke, some sweet malts, some cocoa and toasted malt. Nice nose. Flavor is sweet with some oak and mesquite char. There is a solid malty syrup flavor. A bit too sweet. Medium on full bodied with a moderately low carb. Dry finish. Well, this is interesting. Not bad, but nothing special

jkwalking05 (4743) - Arlington, Texas, USA - FEB 22, 2014
22 oz bottle. Hazy ruby brown with a decent off-white head. Aroma is of cherry, light smoke, raspberry, heavy malt and some cranberry and fig. Taste is of malt, buttery biscuits, fig, light leather, cherry, and toffee. Disappointing...

3.2
travita (5006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 22, 2014
Bottle. The look is cloudy, reddish in color, and has off white head. The smell is smoke, malt, sweet, caramel, fruit, and ok. The taste is sweet, fruits, malts, and slight ash.

beastiefan2k (4007) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - FEB 6, 2014
22oz waxed bottle poured. Pours a dark thick reddish amber. Low clarity. Aroma is sweeter and boozier but still has a leafy earthy soil Scottish aroma. Flavor is less sweet and less boozy which is better. Goes great with a slightly thicker mouthful. A nice long soil and bitter brown malts aftertaste.

3.8
Modularman (133) - - DEC 24, 2013
Bottle, smell of toffee and earth, appearance is dark brown, taste of light toffee and caramel which disappears quickly. You would never know this is a 9% beer

3.2
blutt59 (6565) - Dallas, Texas, USA - DEC 5, 2013
bottled, dark muddy brown color with frothy tan foam, aroma of dates, brown sugar, flavor is rum, caramel toffee, red licorice, not much scotch or smoke
