Orange/amber colour with a fairly thin white head. Smells of pumpkin (duh!), malt, spices and even a bit of sugar are clearly evident in the aroma. Light-bodied; Very subtle tastes of pumpkin & malt are basicaly the only flavours that come across in the taste. Some metallic twang is noticeable in the middle of the taste. Aftertaste is almost nothing, but there is some residual bitterness from the pumpkin spice and from the malt. Overall, not a good beer for the style or in general. If you are looking for Pumpkin, take a drive to Post Road and stay away from Buffalo Bill! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia and sampled it on 12-September-2003. UPDATED: JUN 10, 2007 Watery, no head, did it have alcohol? tastes like ultra-bland beer with a bottle of pumpkin pie spice thrown in.You would think that if they went through the trouble to use pumpkin in the boil it would add body, but this beer is devoid of body. makes me wonder if it in reality contains essence of pumkin or some "natural" pumpkin flavor. UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 I would call this Holiday Spice Ale and not Pumpkin ale. The Pumpkin flavor is totally overwhelmed by the spice mix. It really seems more like a spiced hard cider and not a beer at all - calling it an Amber style Ale is really misleading as it shares nothing with true Amber Ales It is very tart the pumpkin is present, but not in the starring role. Clean and orange colored. A little too carbonated as well. Interesting ale to share over Thanksgiving meal, but not much other uses for it.

1st time that I’ve tried a bottle of pumpkin ale. I saw a lot of different varieties of it on the shelf during the fall. It poured and looked exactly like ginger ale. Lots of fizzy carbonation and a fizzy head like soda. Aroma was of all spice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is all spice and pumpkin. Aftertaste is lingering sweet and more all spice. This beer pours very little head and what’s there dissipates quickly. It is very light and refreshing with some sweetness and obviously pumpkin, but very mild doses of both and an even more subtle hint of cinnamon. It finishes clean. [2007 bottle...oops] Pours a murky rust color with very thin sudsy off-white head. Bubblegum and Toothpaste aroma, fruity with some pumpkin and nutmeg.
