3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours deep, dark reddish brown, with a small light brown head. Aromas of blueberry, some sour fruit juice, and wheat. The flavor is sweet; caramel and toffee, overripe/rotten blueberry, and an alcoholic, bitter fruit skin finish that I find rather astringent. Moderate carbonation and body, and slightly warming. There’s very little stout quality here; not too impressive.
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent seasonal release. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted oats, dark bread, and lightly tart blueberries; with lighter notes of coffee, smoke, nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, blueberries, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted oats, dark bread, and lightly tart blueberries; with lighter notes of coffee, smoke, nuttiness, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toasted oats, dark bread, blueberries, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, blueberries, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 7.9%. Overall this is a very nice fruited oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, blueberries, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Good presence of blueberries without being overly tart; with a really nice tasting base oatmeal stout on malt complexity. A very enjoyable offering. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - MAY 9, 2016

The aroma of blueberry, but the taste of coffee/chocolate. Actually, not a bad stout.

Bottle from the new total wine. Pours clear ruby black, medium tan head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is stale coffee, ashtray, berries, roasted malts. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, odd actually. Notes of berry stems more than fruit, ashtray and roasted malts. Medium body, lingering bitterness.

A- Blueberry, jelly, chocolate, alcohol.
A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head.
T- Blueberries, chocolate, roasty, smoke, dry cocoa.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.
O- Shockingly delicious. The nose is like chocolate syrup covered blueberries and completely natural smelling. The taste is about the same but with a bit of smoke. Overall, this was quite good. fuzzcro (295) - Illinois, USA - DEC 27, 2015
It is what it states. Could be sweeter. Could be thicker. Bitter on the end. It’s okay just not as good as it could be.

Not impressed. May be that it was brewed/bottled in Ukiah, not Hayward where the pub is. snoworsummer (5787) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 3, 2015
From a bottle. Pours dark nut brown with a fizzy beige head. Tastes like stale old blueberries and stale grains. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like old stale musky grains. REDDOGICE (243) - nantucket, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 10, 2015
Very good stout. I had this @ old mill stream inn in St. Charles, MO taste was complex and satisfying. Not cloying and overall a great beer.
