UPDATED: FEB 4, 2014 Can from Bell’s Market in NE Philly. My first experience with Kvass, and now I want to try more. Dark brown color, relatively transparent. Light head dissipates quickly. Carbonation light but persistent...after sitting out for some time, looks flat but does not feel flat on the palate. Very malty and bready, like drinking liquid pumpernickle bread...rye is strongly evident. Caramel sweetness, and considerable sourness, but sourness is not unpleasant. Very enjoyable and I would gladly drink this again. I rarely like drinks this sweet but it was hearty and full-bodied, and had a sourness to balance the sweetness. Slight metallic aftertaste.
