Draft at the brewpub.
Pours deep dark brown with slight mahogany edges and one finger light beige head that quickly settles into very thin ring. Not much in way of lacing.
Spicy aroma with hints of dark malt and dark fruit. Slightly smokey roasted malt presence which overtakes sweet fruit character. Lots of chocolate.
Medium bodied with a lot of dark malt and spice. Roastier than expected for the style with a prominent chocolate presence but not much in the way of estery dark fruit. One dimensional and uncharacteristic for the style. Abv decently masked with heat toward end if palate. Peppery subtle plum and raisin

Murky dark brown with light hazelnut highlights around the edges. Smell was a bit faint, but I got slightly burned toast, toffee, and some dark fruit. Taste was much the same, but heavier on the dark fruits. Toffee, some faint winter spice, a nice boozy warmth that wasn’t too much to handle. Toffee-like afterburn. Light mouthfeel but big flavor. Nice! tennessejed420 (940) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 26, 2011
tap at b&b. Pours murky dark color with thin grey head. Aroma of raisin, soft dark fruit, earthy, maybe subtle mushroom. Medium bodied and smooth, very nice for 10% abv. Flavor of burnt sugar, raisin, earthy, caramelized bark, caraml, fig. Pretty damn nice for an american abt 12. cubs (10636) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 20, 2011
On tap @ B&B. Caramel brown appearance with a fairly small brown head. Candy sugar, caramel, chocolate, Belgian yeast in the nose. Fair strong candy sugar, caramel malty, Belgian yeasty, somewhat syrupy, molasses flavor. Molasses and candy sugar on the finish with a caramel, molasses aftertaste. Pretty solid Quadrupel.
