Tap @ brewery. Dark appearance with a tan head. Peppery, mild estery, citrusy, chewy aroma. Somewhat strong, a bit boozy, caramel, dark fruity, plum, dark berry flavor. Sugary and cloying. Pass. onceblind (10542) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Clear blackish with a thin ring of tan head around the glass. Syrupy sweet fruity aroma of raisin and fig with a nice subtle earthy toffee tone, but mostly sticky fruity sweet. Flavor is bold and rich but remains drinkably smooth and balanced. Rich toffee and raisin/plum notes fill the palate, a wee bit of molasses, with just a touch of warm booziness in the form of delicious cough syrup from childhood. Ends with just a whisper of bitterness, just enough to keep the beer from being cloying sweet and/or uncomplex.
