Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a thin khaki head that leaves little lacing. Slight note of molasses on the note. A bit of licorice on tongue. Clean finish. Uh ok. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Tap @ brewery. Dark brown/black appearance with a brown head. Somewhat roasty, light coffee, chocolate, mild vanilla aroma. Fairly smooth, chocolate, roasty, a bit creamy flavor. Ok. arminjewell (9635) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - AUG 12, 2012
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with an off tan head, aroma had lots of roast, bready malts, hints of spice and yeast tones, some slight coffee and dark baker’s chocolate, slight dark fruit but restrained. Taste is sweet caramel going right into some bread, roast and spice notes, slight coffee undertones, finishing fairly dry and bitter. Pretty decent. onceblind (9627) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 8, 2012
Heavy black with a pillowy khaki head, with a pleasingly dark aroma of roasty black grains, earthy toffee sweetness, and a touch of espresso. Smooth sweet flavor with a subtly smoky peaty essence, a bit of earthy bitterness, a wee touch of toffee and espresso, and overriding dark roasty grains. Not shabby, but a bit of a chore to drink after a half-pint.
