On tap at the brewpub. Hazy amber brown beer. Low carbonation. Sweet thick barleywine with hints of vanilla wood. Very smooth indeed. Dangerously easy drinking!
On tap @ 5th Annual Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Definately one of the better barrel aged beers of the night. Balanced, it took on the character of the barrel (oak, vanilla, bourbon, coconut) and also the maltiness of the original beer, with hints of caramel and fruit. A nice brew. On tap at the brewpub. Pours the color of bourbon, a clear dark reddish brown. Has a medium white head that thins out fast. Super thick pancake syrup. It’s a bit over the top with all the sweetness. I think this beer could benefit from more attenuation to a lower gravity or at least they could have used some really big-ass hops to balance out all the sugars. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 1, 2016
Bottle. Thanks, N! Wow, this really is a big hit from way back. I clearly did not realize or appreciate just exactly the scarcity of what we were tasting. So cool, and thanks so much. Pours an opaque dark mahogany with a little bit of dark tan head still hanging around and clinging to the surface, even after all these years. Huge complex caramel, toffee, fig, molasses, and date nose, all kinds of malt sweetness, not unlike the best christmas dessert that you’ll never probably get to have, because you can’t age fruitcakes for 9 years like you can beers. Creamy thick body with minimal (but more than zero for sure) carb. Toffee, caramel, molasses, figs, and dates on the mid palate. Has weathered the years magnificently. Long sweet finish. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 7, 2007
sampled on tap at the 5th Boulder Strong Ale Fest. my notes are short on this but flavor has lots of caramel, toffee, too sweet, hints of bourbon, and warming alcohol. tasty stuff.

(Draught) Pours a mahogany body with a small beige head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar, caramel, and chocolate. Flavor of maple syrup, caramel, biscuit, molasses, dark fruits, and vanilla with a sticky finish. dnstone (3488) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Fresh wood barrel, syrup/walnut aroma. An apple-cideresque hazy brown. A nice warming whiskey barrell syrupy walnut flavor. waolsen (1376) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - NOV 3, 2007

this is liquid candy. Lots of sticky malts, molasses and sugar. Its ok, just not my style. Kevin (2200) - Montana, USA - APR 18, 2007
flat purple pour . raisin juice aroma hit me hard. but i like pain. this was the 05 vintage, i can only imagine how hot this was at one time. surprisingly drinkable. the bourbon was definitive, i knew it had to be aged in something, and seeing wild turkey now makes sense. strong booze and plum notes with a lot of ancillary flavors. pepper, banana, bubble gum, finishes with a lingering grapeskin and vanilla bourbon. after a glass my mood was improved tremendously. just the thing to have after working a bad shift on a scheduled day off.
