UPDATED: MAR 7, 2004 Draught. Body is medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (nuts, caramel), with notes of cask wood and whiskey. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. UPDATED: MAR 2, 2004 Massively chewy malts; residual unfermentables possibly. Wafty malt aromas were very pleasant. Some hop bitterness, but not enough to balance the sweet and heavy malts, IMO. Big caramel sweetness. Only a slight alcohol nip, though I'm sure there was plenty in there. Sweet, thick and meaty. Rerate: Deep-dark brown and clear. Smooth and mildly carbonated; kind of lightish. Sweet vanilla, caramel, whiskey and wood notes. Interesting brew.
